This gollum jade branch fell from a huge plant at my work so I rescued him from the trash. Water therapy has been super successful for root development. March 27, 2019

Dischidia ovata,

Watermelon ant vine.

Native to parts of South Eastern Asia Guinea and Australia, this climbing vine is capable of housing small ant species in larger inflated leaves. It tends to prefer  mangrove forests and middle grade forests for ideal habitat. It’s flowers are small and utilize a floral trap to capture small flies. This floral morphology works similar to species found in the genera Ceropegia although Dischidia are more closely related to Hoya.

This ant plant member is often confused with a few different peperomia and britworts in collection labels, it’s always wise to let a plant bloom before labelling.
