November 2026: National Day Of Mourning & Surrounding Days
Thursday day dinner - turkey & dressing, mixed greens (turnip, kale & collards), penne bolognese & a medley of oven-roasted pumpkin, turnip, rutabaga & carrot:
I took the seeds from the pumpkin we roasted for dinner & dried them for bird seed. It took 45 minutes in the oven at 300 degrees to get them properly dry:

Five big bags of leaves that we plan to let molder over the winter & apply around the garden as needed in the Spring & Summer. Oh! That brick path is courtesy of some curbside scavving I did earlier this year:
Twenty-two pumpkins. Twenty of them were from the same upper bougie house & only two of those were gone to the point of being unusable for food. We're going to oven-dry the seeds for bird seed & use what's left in our compost bins. Beyond absorbed nutrients, pumpkins have an insane amount of moisture that they can add to your compost. Turning waste into next year's fertilizer:
