Mythos Covenant

The Mythos Covenant happens between two people, a Miester and a Puppit. Both bear markings on their face- Miesters tend to have markings beneath both eyes, Puppits under one. Colors and shapes tend to not matter. Bond-mates are usually siblings or partners throughout life, often assigned at birth. Miesters are always older than the Puppits. When both powers combine, Miesters give their power to the Puppit, who transforms into either a Dragon or a Serpent. Puppits, as a tradeoff, die before the Miester. It is possible that a Miester is born without a Puppit and vise versa. They have a choice of forming a bond with another person of their choice or not.

It may be important to note that the "Mythos Covenant" is something specifically given to those within the Mythos family. The Mythos Clan are a combination of those from the main bloodline and those who are married into the family. This specific covenant only exists for the water-ice elements.

Is it possible for other elements to have this kind of pact?

Yes! In fact, in Yuuki's story, there is talk about other elements having this same specfic ability. That being said, it is usually limited to specific families. For most other families that exist with this sort of pact, they will refer to it as something else, but the Mythos family will refer to it as the Covenant.

(And at the time of writing this post, the only family that is really talked about is the Mythos family.)

Lance and Wave will refer to Yuuki as their cousin, but he’s actually from the brother of their grandfather.

Yuuki looks rather young for his age, but that’s also partially because he’s binded in a contract that caused him to stop aging the same way as other creatures do. (I also want to point out that time and age flows a bit different in The Elementals world… and because most of the creatures have some sort of elven, angelic, or demonic ancestry, aging is… kinda weird.)

The Mythos Clan is a family of water and ice elements known for something known as the Mythos Covenant, a magical pact that binds two souls together with a “contract” that allows one to be a Meister, and the other to be a Puppit. A Puppit has the ability to shift into a dragon, serpent, or some other magical creature, and the Meister controls the creature by offering unlimited magical power to it. In some variants of the pact, they serve as a rider, if that makes sense.

In the Mythos family, Meisters and their Puppits are predetermined by destiny and birthright. More often than not, meisters and puppits marry together too, unless they are siblings (like Lance and Wave)

All individuals are born with some sort of matching facial symbol. Meisters have two symbols (one under each eye), and a Puppit has one, usually under their left eye. (So if you notice, Lance and Wave both have a curvy symbol; you just can’t see Wave’s second one lol )

Yuuki, however, is a little rare. Yuuki was born as a puppit with no Meister. “But Nik, he has symbols under both eyes!” Yes, I’m getting to that.

While his older brother Kaito (also a puppit) has a formed pact with someone, Yuuki is left to his own devices. Yuuki decided that instead of dwelling on being Meister-less, he’d train to be something like a priest, maintaining the shrine to the gods and becoming a scholar. Yes, Yuuki harbored jealousy that he did not turn out like everyone else, but he eventually became fine with it… until…

Hailee (Kaito’s Meister, future wife, and friend), Kaito, and he went exploring in the forests outside of their land, when they discovered some travelers setting up camp a little ways away from their home. At first, they were no threat to the Clan, until their leader one day came to the village elders and demanded an audience. This man announced himself to be someone called “Seth,” who hailed from the Fire Realm (I’m forgetting he names I gave the realms at the moment lol), and was on a journey for knowledge. He demanded information on something called the Covenant.

Yuuki’s grandfather refused to provide him with information, as the Covenant to the Mythos family was something sacred (and thought to be a well known secret).

While seemingly defeated, Seth left with no further information. Curious, Yuuki snuck out to try and spy on Seth and his fellow travelers, only to be caught and put into captivity. Forced to give answers to Seth, Yuuki found out that there were other clans like his, all from different magical backgrounds, and Seth… wanted to control and form pacts with one from each clan. Yuuki refused to create a pact with Seth, knowing that more than one pact in his family is not possible.

I’m not going to go into a lot more detail, but Seth is not a good person. At all. He treats Yuuki even less… so I’ll leave it at that.

Seth eventually threatens to unalive all of Yuuki’s family if he is not given any information, and Yuuki finally reveals that he will form a pact with him if he leaves his home alone. Yuuki reveals that he has no Meister, and it would work out perfectly. Yuuki does have the power and ability to chose anyone to be his meister, given his lack of one (he just never chose to originally), and goes through a very… unpleasant experience forming a pact with Seth. Yuuki feels the connections he has with all of his other like-souls, and frees them as he forms his pact… which, once Seth finds that out, he… isn’t very kind. Seth then turns his focus on the rest of the Mythos family. At first, Yuuki is able to distract Seth with trying to find new partners, so they travel the world for a while… end eventually, they return to Yuuki’s family.

Yuuki tries to warn his family about Seth and what has happened to him, but Seth catches on and unleashes all of his power within Yuuki, causing him to transform and… massacre his whole clan, including Lance and Wave’s parents . Yuuki is able to get some control, allowing Wave and Lance to escape. But when they were done, no one was left alive. The Mythos Clan was erased from existence.

Anyway. Yuuki lives on making Seth’s life a living hell. He endures a ton of shit from him, and even though it causes him physical pain, he refused to shift into a creature again. At the same time, Yuuki continues to research how he can break the Covenant with Seth, and if it is even possible… it is, but the only way to do it is by killing Seth and having some sort of magical ability to sever a tie before his soul completely moves on. Spoiler, when he tries it, he does fail, and Seth’s soul merges with Yuuki’s, causing him to wield the powers of both a Puppit and Meister.

The Chalice and The Tree

These two things are mentioned a lot of the various stories built into this universe. Both items are mythological items or objects that either no one has ever seen before or are items that belong to the gods (both the Greater and the Lesser).

It is important to note that the Chalice cannot exist without the Tree, and the Tree cannot exist without all parts being interwoven into each other.

The Tree

The Tree in the Elemental's lore is a tree birthed by Leviathan as a means to connect himself to the rest of the world and all of it's plains. Leviathan is the only Lesser God to be able to traverse the plains as well as he.

It may be important to point out that there are a few different "levels" to the Realms. The three primary levels are the Upper Plains, The Realms, and The World Below. The Upper Plains is a realm that exists above the Realms, and it is where the angels primarily reside. The Upper Plains are also broken into different segments: The Heavens, The Upper Plains, and the Lower Plains. The Heavens are where, theoretically, the Greater Gods reside; no one can truly enter the Heavens unless they are one of the Lesser Gods. The Upper Plains and Lower Plains are the livable levels where the Light Elemental and Angels will reside, with the Lower Plain being where anyone who is not a full blooded angel will reside. The Realms is where literally everyone else lives, including the remaining Elementals and their realms. The World Below is an area that resides below the Realms, and exists solely as the underworld. While the Heavens remain the realm of the gods, the World Below is where souls enter and either pass on into eternal life or are sent back for rebirth (with no memories, unlike the Lesser Gods who will reincarnate with memories, eventually).

It is later released that The Tree is a tool used to wipe the living plain clean and to create it anew. Leviathan stole the power of the Greater Gods, as well as the souls of other gods standing in his way, to be able to utilize the tree the way he has.

No one is sure how Leviathan came to possess such an incredible power.

The Tree also is the force between the ability for certain families to create worlds on a whim. Mirror realms, as Leviathan has called it. The power was stolen by Asmodeus, who passed it on to a few bloodlines, including Ohmamere's and Lora's family. Unbeknownst to Asmodeus, at the time, the possession of this incredible power puts a time limit on the mortal life, giving those souls the ability to pass it on to the next kin… if the power is used at least once, the user is able to live longer.

The Tree has the ability to take gods and "kill" them. For Belial, Leviathan was able to successfully put him into a stasis… but for unlucky souls like Asmodeus and Mikhael, both beings who held Lesser God seats, have been held in almost a permanent stasis within the tree. It is uncertain if they reside in a "mirror" realm, like Leviathan described.

The other Lesser Gods were fully aware that Leviathan intended to use the tree the way he has been. This is why many of the Lesser Gods let Leviathan do what he wants, as they do not want to be caught up in the vines. 

Belial was the last to discover the true nature of The Tree and tried to persuade the other Lesser Gods, most specifically Mephistopheles, only to paint a target on his back. In a private conversation, Belial tried to convince Mephistopheles that Leviathan was going to betray the other Lesser Gods and use their power to try and awaken The Tree's true power, and that he had been plotting to kill the Greater Gods. Without knowing, Leviathan had been listening to the damning accusations and decided to take Belial to "court," where they had to convince the other Lesser Gods that one was more wrong than the other. Belial was "brought to justice" and found guilty of framing Leviathan, and was given to the tree.

The Chalice

The Chalice goes by a few names. The most common is the Chalice, but the Lesser Gods will refer to it as "the seed."

There hasn't been any true sighting of the Chalice, other than it looks like an egg.

Individuals that protect the Chalice, or any of the seeds, are called Chalistinians, and are part of a force called the Protectors of the Chalice. According to the Chalistinians, the protectors of the lore of the Chalice, this "egg" is the seed of life. The person who beholds it can either destroy the world or breath new life.

The Chalice was a "seed" of The Tree, stolen away and hidden so that Leviathan could not truly activate its full potential.

There are multiple "seeds" that are dispersed throughout the Realms, but many do not live past infancy because of the stress and power that the seed has for a mortal life.

It was once rumored that Asmodeus stole seeds from The Tree and ran to plant them in the mortal world. However, it was Leviathan that struck them down, dispersing the seeds into the Stream of Time.  

Only individuals who have been "kissed by the gods" can live and hold onto the seeds.

Leviathan has specifically sent Nazir on a mission to locate all the seeds possible and find the one that will be planted so that the three levels of the Realms are all connected once more, allowing him the ability to not only traverse the realms (as will everyone else), but to seek out the ultimate destruction of the entire system.

Militaries in The Realms

**As a full disclosure, a lot of this is still under development. Information will be updated, and I will be sure to note when updates have been made**

In the Elementals Universe, there are a few different militaries that exist. Many of these militaries were created with the intention of fighting off evil creatures, but it was also created with the intention of having an army against the gods or any Elemental that had gone rouge.

There may be spoiler content in the context below, so be mindful as you read.

Bringers of Light

Ryne's Army

The Bringers of Light is a faction of the Heavenly Army that is directly under Ryne's orders. When Ryne was given the role of Attar after the current Attar had gone missing, the Bringer's of Light became the number one threat to the mortal realm and gave The Dark Army a much bigger purpose. As Ryne became the new Attar, Kokabiel became the new commander.

During the main plot line, the Bringers of Light are led by Michael and carry out Ryne's direct orders to establish purity in the Heavens, most specifically Paradise. 

The Bringers of Light faction is a small legion of Angels, and tend to be comprised of the most judgmental angels. While most angels did not agree with the purging of Watchers from the Paradise realms, the Bringers of Light were the ones that sought out the final judgement.

Heavenly Army

The Paradise Realm Army

The Heavenly Army is separate from the Light Army, not to be confused with the Bringers of Light. The Heavenly Army fills many different parts of Paradise, such as setting up a guard, protecting Attar, and other roles. They function less like an Army, leaving that function to the Bringers of Light.

Many individuals in the Heavenly Army will align themselves with the Light Army as needed, but are often keeping to themselves in Paradise. While they did not participate in the eradication of Watchers from the Upper Plains of Paradise, they do keep guard around the entry ways to make sure that Watchers do not set foot on "pure soil."

Any existing Watchers in the Heavenly Army will take roles on the Lower Plains of Paradise, where Watchers are allowed to reside, or have left to take part in the Light Army or other military factions.

The Light Army

The Light Realm Military

Set up by the Bringers of Light, the Light Army is led by Dylan, the Light Elemental. During Lucian's rule, the Light Army did not truly exist or take root. Dylan had been forced to take on the role of Light Elemental after Lucian disappeared, and had been persuaded to seek protection from a league of fighters.

The Light Army does not consist of just Light magists, but a combination of different elements that seek the protection of the definition of Light versus Dark. Dylan has tried to design the Light Army to be an army of justice and fairness, and many participants in this faction do believe that they are doing what is right.

The Light Army does not fully oppose the Legion, but they firmly stand against the Shadow Bringers and The Shadow Army.

The Legion

The Largest Military in the Realms

Similar to the Light Army, the Legion was designed to oppose the Light Army and their basis in "purity." While the Light Army will deny those claims stating their belief in justice and judgement, their ties to the Heavenly Army and the Bringers of Light are apparent. The Legion, unlike the Light Army, is not led by an Elemental, but an individual named Vlatka.

Similar to the real world military, the Legion has many different factions that exist around the Realms, but their primary location is hidden. They share grounds with The Alliance, which is tied to the Legion (although they are recognized as two separate entities). Vlatka does speak closely with the Dark/Shadow Elemental that presides at the time, but because the Legion does not swear allegiance to one Elemental, the Legion accepts all magists from all backgrounds. As such, the Legion is also the largest military in the Realms. 

Vlatka is not necessarily an evil force, but while Dylan tries to upkeep an image of fairness, Vlatka tries to upkeep an image of power and strength.

The Legion initially teams alongside The Shadow Bringers and the Shadow Army as Cain comes into existence. Cain's role plays on the imagery of strength and power for the Legion, enticing Vlatka for joining.

The Alliance

The Interpol of the Elementals Universe

The Alliance is, as true to its name, an alliance between all factions within the world, maintained and put in place to make sure that all creatures are following the rules. All that are employed by the Alliance do not follow a single god, per say, and are not given orders by anyone other than their leader, Decibal.

The Alliance is led by Decibal, who has never shown his face to anyone, even their highest officials. The Alliance is thus shrouded in mystery. To anyone outside of The Alliance, no one is truly sure of the intentions of any of its members. At some point, it was rumored that The Alliance was pure evil, as it would send members out to secretly kill officials in all parts of the Realm.

The Alliance, however, while secretive, does not play any significant role in any singular political movement, although they can be employed to do such. Decebal plays his chess pieces carefully and only makes alliances that are meaningful to his purpose: balance.  

This military faction remains fairly close to The Legion, which is their more militant counterpart. While The Legion does more field work and actual fighting, the Alliance does more secretive and intelligence gathering work. To put it bluntly - The Alliance is the Interpol of the Realms, with spies and agents of the sort.

The Shadow Army

Seekers of the Chalice

Led by Nazir, the Shadow Bringers primary purpose is to seek out the Chalice. Nazir is a descendant of Leviathan, although he would never admit it, and desires the Chalice to start the destruction of the gods and the "monarchy" in the Realms. Nazir will often refer to his overall goal as to "creating chaos in the Realms." While he aims to find the Chalice and give it to Leviathan, Nazir will often cause and disrupt many on-goings within the Realms.

Unlike the Legion, while having its roots in the Shadow Realm, The Shadow Bringers is comprised of all Shadow magists.

Initally, Nahil had been a servant of Nazir (which is horribly hilarious to me), but Nahil defected. 

The Shadow Bringers 

A Secret Faction

The Shadow Army is a small faction of individuals who align with no specific party. Due to Din's prior relationship with the god Asmodeus, there was a period of time where the Shadow Army had been aligned with the gods and sought to secretly protect them if war ever erupted. However, with Asmodeus gone, Din's allegiances have always been in question. 

Overtime, the Shadow Army became the sole protectors of the Chalice and its whereabouts. While Nazir sought to collect pieces, Din served to protect the individuals who contained pieces of the Chalice within their souls. It was Din who sent Lelial and Nahil to protect Orna, who would become the last piece of the Chalice and the Controller.

It had been rumored that despite the falling out of the Shadow Army and the Legion, the Alliance still maintained contact with them.

Important Term: Elementals

The Elementals are the definition of the peak of elemental ability, hence their title of Elemental. They serve as ambassadors of their elements, and can be seen as the leader of their respected realms. In some cases, Elementals are not recognized in any position of power, and are left to roam the Realms until they are needed. While this practice is uncommon, it can happen.

A quick note before you continue to read: there will be names listed below that you have not seen before. This isn’t intentional, but it’s just because I typically create notes out of order haha

How is an Elemental born?

A common belief is that Elementals are born into royalty or godhood. However, just like stated above, not all Elementals are born with that status. In fact, not all of the Elementals are even related to their predecessor! Elementals do not have a specific race that they are born into. In this lore, there are only two generations of Elementals listed, but it can be inferred that others existed before their time as the current Elemental. However, given that certain magists have different lifespans than others, the rate at which Elementals are replaced varies from element to element.

It is important to note that while the Elemental Sigil can be given to any creature within the Realms, the only beings that cannot receive a sigil are the Greater Gods and the Lesser Gods, as they are able to wield more than one element (even though they favor one over the other).

How are Elementals recognized?

Elementals look no different from all other living life in the Realms. The only key feature is that there is a sigil on their soul that is only recognized either by the gods or by the current sitting Elemental.

Sigils Seen By the Gods

The gods tend to remain uninvolved in the Realm's affairs, including in the recognition of the Sigils. This is primarily because one, the Lesser Gods are involved in their own affairs or two, they don't care enough. In fact, the Elementals are seen as a threat to some of the Lesser Gods, so they try to steer clear from involving themselves with them.

The only gods that have ever really gotten themselves involved in the affairs of the Elementals are Belial, Leviathan, and Mikhael.

Ø Belial's involvement: Belial plays a pretty important role in The Elementals, as he is one of the key factors in keeping the current world alive. While he remains hands-off in many of their affairs, he is the one that eventually brings all the Elementals together in the end game. Belial is also the one to seek out Forseth and convince him to take on his role as the Mind Elemental by informing that it was Leviathan who played a part in his upbringing.

Ø Leviathan's involvement: While it may seem that Leviathan doesn't care about the mortal realms, he single-handedly has dipped his hand into many of the events throughout the current cycle's misgivings. Many of the unfortunate calamities that have happened are because Leviathan involved himself. In fact, it was due to Leviathan that both the Great War and the Elemental War occurred. His biggest scheme was convincing Rhyut to become Seeker in the Elemental War. Leviathan is also regarded as the primary benefactor for The Shadow Bringers, as Nazir is one of his descendants.

Ø Mikhael's Involvement - It is common knowledge that the current sitting Shadow Elemental, Samael, is a descendant of Mikhael. Mikhael does not have any impact on Samael's upbringing, but he does give him advice from time to time when he asks for it.

In some regard, Asmodeus also favored the mortal realms and The Elementals and just wished to see them succeed.

Sigils Seen by the Current Elementals:

Typically, only two individuals with the same sigil can exist in one timeline. While initially believed that two individuals with the same Elemental Sigil can exist at the same time, this isn’t proven. Therefore, it is usually seen as a death sentence for the current Elemental to see someone else with the same sigil.

These sigils can also influence the current Elemental to reject their title and have it fully befall their successor.

Ø Not all current Elementals know who their successor will be, which can sometimes leave realms in a bit of a rut if that position is left unfilled.

Ø Not all current Elementals die as a result of someone else having the same sigil, but it usually just means that their time as the Elemental is limited (as it gives some a way out of their position of power).

Ø Some Elementals will train their successors to take their place, as is the case with Yasu and Orna.

Ø Some Sigils are a birthright, while others are random.

Common Beliefs by the People in the Realms:

1) The Elementals were individuals kissed by the Greater Gods. In realms like the Light and Shadow Realms, those that are seated in this role of Elemental are seen as individuals who have had some sort of connection to the Greater Gods, whether they be the vessels of those gods or are the offspring of the Lesser Gods. However, this is only the case for Samael, who has a legitimate birthright. Both Dylan and Lucian do not have any formal connection to Attar or the Greater God of Light, even though Lucian (aka, Lux) is the vessel for Attar and the Greater God of Light.

2) Demons cannot take on the role of an Elemental. Demons do get a bad rep in the Realms, but demons are, in reality, no different than drakes or any other anthropod. Therefore, when Forseth was formally recognized as the Mind Elemental, there was a significant opposition to him assuming this role (although, this was partially due to his lineage more so than the fact he was a demon).

3) The Electric Realm is broken into two lineages, Thunder and Lightning, because the sigil will shift between the two royal families.

Important Info: The God Hierarchy

This is a pretty big topic, and it is the central focus on the "God Arc" of The Elementals.

Just as a headsup, I have not decided on the names of the Greater Gods, and the names listed below are placeholders until I can come up with better names.

The Greater Gods, The Lesser Gods, names, bios, etc, as well as some plot-related info.

The Greater Gods

You have 3 main gods of the world. Gods do not have a true physical form and rely on vessels to roam the physical world. 

They served a purpose in terms of the creation of the world, but now just serve as a balance to all things. 

Leviathan's aim is to kill all three of the Gods and rule as the one sole god, using the Tree of Life as a method to erase the world and recreate it in his vision.

Cougir, Ponui, and Xavier are the Three Greater Gods [remember, placeholder names]. Their vessels are determined by some sort of "choosening" ceremony, and are usually designated with some form of mark on their bodies. 

The current vessels are: Lucian (for Xavier), Samael (for Ponui), and the current Core vessel is unrecognized. 

Gods cannot die. They are only put into a stasis. Therefore, there is no need for rebirth and whatnot. Vessels, however, can die. Once they die, the Greater Gods just select and mark a new vessel. It is also important to note that in this current arc, the vessels just so happen to be Elementals as well!

The Lesser Gods

These folk rule more of the physical world and have a physical form. They do have some engagement with the physical world, although there is a lot of turmoil amongst them. Although, "rule" is probably a poor choice of words in this, as they don't really have any control of the politics of the Realms... per say.

The main objective of the Lesser Gods is Speak the Word of the Gods, even though many of them don't. 

The Lesser Gods are a group of six deities who were born from the elements and given life by the Greater Gods. Like the Greater Gods, they cannot die the same way a mortal can, and if they do, they either go into a "stasis" or they reincarnate. Each Lesser God (LG) has a godly name and a given name; depending on the god, they either refer to themselves as their godly name or their given name. For example, Leviathan almost always goes by the name "Leviathan" rather than his given name. The biggest difference between them and the Greater Gods (GG) is that the LG's have physical forms, where the GG's do not.

The Lesser Gods sit on a scale from "lightest" to "darkest". This is not a symbol of which one is more good or more evil, but rather a clearer idea of the balance they hold. Asmodeus and Belial sit in the center, and balance out the other two sides. In some regards, it would be like saying that each of the Greater Gods has two Lesser Gods to represent them.

The Lesser Gods DO HAVE a physical form, although they can possess someone if they really wanted to. They have more of an ability to change their appearance if they really wanted to, but most of them do not for ease of recognition.

How are The Lesser Gods chosen?

As of right now, The Lesser Gods are some of the oldest creatures in the Realm. They do not age the same way as the rest of the living creatures do.  To say that the LG's are "chosen" is an odd way to describe how they are recognized after a stasis or after a rebirth cycle.

The gods are NOT technically related to one another, nor do they have any specific blood relation to the Greater Gods. The myth is that the Lesser Gods were born of the elements of the Realms, hence why they are so powerful.

Actually, it is also similar to the myth of how the Elementals were first created as well! The belief for a long time was that the Elementals were picked by the Lesser Gods to represent their elements, since they could not (or would not).

Since the Lesser Gods are born from the elements, should they ever be "killed," they are reincarnated into a new being. They are eventually recognized as the God and reassigned their godly name, even if they grew up with a different name.

Wait, so they can be born mortal?

So this is a part that I am trying to still figure out how to make clearer. The Lesser Gods have two ways they can come back from a rebirth/reincarnation cycle: either they just... appear, or they are born from mortals. It just depends. More often than not, the gods are just... poof into existence.

In the case of Asmodeus and Belial, they were both "killed" in an earlier part of the timeline and both had a rebirth cycle around the same time, so they were born as "twins." Therefore, their current physical forms look similar to one another.

There are some characteristics that remain fairly consistent, regardless of the form they take. Belial and Asmodeus will always have red markings around their eyes, Attar will always have a halo, Mephistopheles will always have horns. Leviathan will always have gradiented hair (and a serpent form), and Mikhael will always look more mortal than he is. More specific characteristics are listed below.

Characteristics of the Gods

The gods have both physical and non-physical forms. They are almost the embodiment of the core elements: Luminosity (Light), Shadow (Dark), and Centricity. While they all primarily focus on one particular element as their "focus", they can conjure all elemental powers.

They can ALSO alter their physical forms, should they so chose, without having to be a shape-shifter.

Characteristics:

Gods characters are usually obscenely tall in their godly forms. Because they can alter their appearance, they can adjust their height (especially if they want to look less imposing on their subjects). Belial is the one with the most significant difference between his godly form and his "mortal" form.

Not all of them have wings.

Attar has a basic set of two, large white wings.

Mephistopheles has a set of two bat-looking wings.

Belial has a series of six wings.

Mikhael has a set of four wings.

Asmodeus has wings made of light.

Leviathan turns into a water dragon, so figure that out.

They have some sort of marking on their body, and usually any other being within their lineage has that marking on their body as well.

Attar - Markings on the forehead and arms

Delicate and soft, usually white or they look like scars

Mephistopheles - Markings on the back and arms

Dark and simple, bold lines

Leviathan - Markings on the arms and chest

Geometric shapes on arms, fading into the chest

Belial - Markings on the eyes and body

Look like sigils, except for the markings on the eyes

It should be pointed out that Belial has added a lot of tattoos on his current form.

Mikhael - Markings on the legs and arms

Ornate markings

Asmodeus - Markings on the face and hands

Similar to Belial's

It should also be pointed out that many of the Lesser Gods do not always outwardly show their markings. But their followers will typically find something and decorate their bodies with a similar feature (e.g., in Belial's case, his followers will use an oroborus to symbolize him).

Important Info: The Wars

These are things that either myself, or other characters in the story, refer a lot to. I'll have to post a timeline at some point so you can see where things fall into place... but it is also kind of spoilerific.

The War of the Gods:

A point that starts fairly early in the story, before the main story of The Fallen. This war takes place among the Lesser Gods, which led to the birth of Belial and Asmodeus in their current forms. The lore designates this as the creation and birth of the different elemental realms.

There is significant time between the last event of this battle to the first event within the "God Arc," aka the primary line where Belial's story (The Fallen) takes place. Not many of the current mortal cast members will talk about this event, as they are born way after this event. Many of the stories will start around or near the time of the Great War (listed below).

Events that occur in between this and the Great War: 1. Yuuki's story and the fall of the Mythos Clan 2. Surry's story 3. All Elementals exist together, and are trying to prevent the Great War from happening.

The Great War:

A war that took place between realms, creating tension between the Light realms and the Shadow Realms, giving birth to the majority of the armies (and why there is political tension between other realms). A lot of the current cast refers to this war a lot because it is where a lot of the previous Elementals either died or resigned from their political positions. It is referred to the “Great War” because it takes place over many years, even if it wasn’t just on a straight up battlefield. Orna’s rise to power marks the end of this war.

The Elemental War:

This is the war that many of the current cast of characters will be involved in. The war was initiated by a dude named Seeker (aka, Cain), and was trying to destroy the current political faction. It can be assumed that Leviathan had a hand in this war even starting, and it was a way to draw out the Chalice. The war doesn’t actually… end, per se, but it does leave the realms in a really rough state.

The Final War:

This is the end game fight, involving both the gods and the cast of characters in a final fight. At this point, Leviathan has assumed control of the Heavens and is putting forth his plan to destroy the universe as is and replace it all with his puppets and copies, and have himself marked as the only god.
