Kiki, Nakiwu? is a deeply honest coming-of-age memoir about growing up as a Black girl in predominantly white spaces and navigating bullying, misogynoir, oversexualization, identity, and self-worth. Through real-life experiences, the book explores how early harm shapes relationships, body image, and belonging—and what healing looks like in a post-COVID, hyperconnected world. Written for Black teenage girls and young women seeking validation, language, and connection through lived experience.

when did it become the norm for swimsuits to be so skimpy? they often cover less than underwear does and i'm supposed to feel fine about splashing around and not feel uncomfortable about how much more of my body is on display or worry about whether i'll pop free of these ridiculous barely-there confines? On the sand or out of the pool I get to wear a t-shirt and shorts but once water is added to the equation i have to strip down to something i wouldn't choose to wear on my own let alone in the company of friends and family and strangers?? who decided to sexualise this clothing and why are we still perpetuating it???

Goth subculture on social media is such a garbage fire

So, basically, this is awful. I'm talking about all these girls posting oversexualised photos, taken in the dumbest, most primitive way. No wonder why we are seen as sex fiends by the normies, especially now, when you type "goth" or even "gothgoth" in the search bar, and all you can find, is buttcheeks. (The hashtag "grufti" is a gem in these dark times, as these... girls... didn't find this term yet, I wonder why.) Such a great representation of a subculture, that is supposed to be a community based on music and fashion, inviting babybats to join in. Black bra and a thong is not fashion honey. This is the level of guys sending dick pics, or even lower, as dick pics are USUALLY, not always, send in dms, and butt / chest selfies are being posted publicly on tumblr and instagram, where minors have easy access to them. (I'm not defending dick pics in any way, they are absolutely disgusting and distasteful, they should never be send to anyone.)

Sometimes religious symbols are used in these awful pictures, this is unacceptable and incredibly disrespectful, doesn't matter if it's a crucifix, ankh or a pentacle. Don't make me start on ladies who offer nude snaps for money, treating their bodies as they were some goods, ready to purchase for anyone.

What makes me even more annoyed, or just entertained in some way, is how the same women are so offended, when a normie makes a goth gf meme. No wonder why he wants her. Not as a partner, just as a toy or a "friend with benefits". (Oh, did I mention, these ladies often claim to be feminists fighting objectification. Mhm.)

And just a clarification, naked photos can be taken in an artful and tasteful way, but let's face it, butt selfies are neither. They are not empowering anyone, they are just objectifying and make our subculture look outrageous and in some ways dangerous to outsiders. Great fucking job.

I hope I didn't start a shitstorm. I probably did.

anyone else see a thing that conforms with a specific stereotype about a specific topic that you have an absurd amount of knowledge on and get so fucking ready to go on a rant about it because it is a semi harmful stereotype that probably just pisses you off more than it does other people (but also i put way too much hard work into ballet for it to be minimised to dancing in skimpy outfits) and then realise that one anger fueled rant isn't gonna change anything.

Today at work I dressed up as a Vampiress, I wore a red & black lacy dress, black stockings, a cape and did my makeup real scary like. Today at work a customer complained about my skimpy costume (my dress reached my knees, my cape covered most of my chest). Today at work a man asked if he could take a photo of me with the cellphone I sold him. Today at work an old man looked me up and down and said I looked 'real nice, yeah, reeeally nice' and then asked me if I was still at school. Today at work a young man stared at my breasts more than he looked at my face. Today at work I had to smile at the men who made unwanted sexual comments and tell them to have a nice day.

When a little girl shops for a Halloween costume, she is bombarded with choices and poses that flirt with and attract sexual attention, teaching her to self-objectify and court the male gaze in advance of the blossoming of her own sexuality... what is most damaging is the normalization of this patterned response, with girls taught to shop, dress and behave while imagining the response of a male audience... this patterned response to these messages become ingrained and natural to these girls, who then carry the patterns into adulthood.

I think that instead of telling girls they can't wear things like leggings and shorts we should tell society that actually, just because someone is wearing something you may find attractive doesn't mean you can use them. Boys, have some control. Or, even better, we should stop oversexualising parts of the human body. A leg is there for movement, and that's the only reason. It's not like I'm walking down the road with no underwear on.

There are idols like TOP who I actually really respect for never taking their clothes off for fans; he’s a person with insecurities and if he’s uncomfortable bearing skin, then who are fans to demand it?
