Commission for @overworkedunderwhelmed 's fic Saving Each Other. Mustering all the strength she could, she pulled him into her arms, firing an image of him out and masking them both so the Akuma chased the illusion instead.

As her arms wrapped around him, her white and golden form manifested from the shadows.

“Rena?” His eyes widened.

Beneath the safety of the mask, Marinette just smiled in reply. “You shouldn’t just give up. You’re smarter than that, Chat Noir.”

So, I don't know how to read (this is 100% an exaggeration. I'm just a really slow reader). Instead of reading, I have a few apps on my phone that let me listen to miraculous ladybug fanfiction.

I'm going to be traveling soon and need more things to listen to. Ideally on AO3 because its the platform I'm the most familiar with.

To give an idea, I'm going to list off a few of my favorite tropes and favorite stories. Any suggestions are really appreciated, but I probably won't read crossovers or smut. Polyamory isn't my cup of tea, but I'm not going to judge a fic just for that.

Marichat is my favorite side of the love square. I'm also partial to Adrien and Chat both 'competing' for Marinette's attention. Tangentially, I'm a huge fan of Adrien acting like Chat and fics where Marinette identifies Adrien as just Chat's civilian form. Caught in the Chat by Boogum is my favorite Civilian Chat Noir fic.

I'm also a big fan of Marinette (as a civilian) being a badass and/or defending Chat Noir (physically in an akuma fight or verbally if someone talks badly about him). Specifically, I absolutely LOVE Hero by Karmic14.

Post-reveal, pre-relationship is also delightful. If At First You Don't Succeed by Leisey is a favorite of mine, meaning I read it at least once a day for over a week straight when I first found it.

Fics where they meet each other later in life are amazing. Paws Fur Coffee by Zaphirite was one of the first fics I bookmarked and I fall back on it whenever I need a pick-me-up. I also adore Can I Steal You For A Second? by AsAlwaysMir, but I find myself not having enough time to get through it.

As are fics where they re-connect later in life Chasing The C/h/atwalk by Inkkerfuffle. Another fic that I find myself regularly coming back to for this situation is Kitty, It's Cold Outside by overworkedunderwhelmed.

I also really like crack fics, especially ones that (while totally wild) actually tell a story. A Bun in the Oven??? by madbug is one I come back to fairly often. However, my favorite cracky series is Unconventional Scenarios by Ramasa, followed by the series Miraculous Coffee by CoffeeBanana.

Model Behavior - The Catwalk

Here we have the first of the illustrations @overworkedunderwhelmed​ commissioned me to do for her Miraculous Ladybug fanfic “Model Behavior.” The link to read it on Ao3 will be in the reblogs!

Fic Summary:

Between all of Hawkmoth's akuma attacks, and preparing for a big competition among up-and-coming designers, Marinette is just a bit on edge. And now Juleka, the key model for the collection, is too sick for the catwalk, the day of the competition! The girls decide to keep a little bit of the pressure off of Marinette, and secretly substitute veteran model Adrien Agreste to play Marinette's Cinderella. But he'll have to pull of both the dress and keep the ruse a secret -- in front of Marinette and his father!

The scene above:

Marinette inhaled sharply, straightening her shoulders as she was gently ushered out onto the catwalk. Under the lights and the gaze of everyone there, it was a little nerve wracking... As she got to the end of the stage she posed, letting the sleeves swing fully open, fluttering like wings before turning back and moving quickly.

Turning on her heel, Marinette started to count as Juleka strode forward. It wasn’t exactly as they practiced, but considering Juleka wasn’t feeling that well, she managed it with flair. ... Grabbing her wand, she waved it at Juleka for attention. It would have to be a move on the fly instead of what they’d practiced, but it would get her focused and out of her own head.

With a dramatic wave of her wand, she mimed a spin. Juleka’s eyes widened before she snapped to attention and stepped into the spin on command. There was a shimmer and sheen to the dress that almost looked like a snow globe of glitter around her as she spun.

The trick of it all, though, that was the crowning achievement.

Marinette carefully snagged the sparkling star of her wand on the open loop of ribbon at the back of the dress, loosening the string that held back the hem, taking the skirt from the heavier knee length it had been at to the more aptly princess-like proportions. The lengthened skirt deepened into lavender.

The marvel and joy on Juleka’s face looked genuine. With a quick final glance back, Juleka strutted out to the edge of the catwalk. Letting the full skirts swirl around once more as she halted at the edge of the catwalk, she stood tall and proud.

And here’s a couple of the detail shots because this is one of the most highly-customized pieces I’ve done to date. Both dresses are combinations of multiple outfits, each individually customized in prework (CSP), major morphing adjustments (DAZ) and a dash of postwork (CSP). They also got customized makeup and hair! Even the set is customized within DAZ from a minor hodgepode. Whew! (So much fun, so many weekends!!)

Why do you love Marichat? While I do love all the multi-faceted dynamics of the Love Square, I've always found the potential for romance compelling between friends who truly know one another well, probably due in no small part to how my own relationships have blossomed. 

As friends, each person can see all the flaws unpolished and still find those quirks and foibles endearing.  They can see the challenges each other faces and empathize, all without the baggage and expectations of romance.  In Marichat in particular, they both know they wouldn't want to change their friend for the world.  However, the moment either one want to improve or needs help, the other is always ready to drop everything just to lend a steady hand and make that a reality.

If you could wield any miraculous, which one would you use and why? Bunnyx holds a very special place in my heart.  I've waxed philosophical on the timey-wimey fun and challenges many times of the particular Miraculous capability in fic pieces.  Sure, she is a powerful fail-safe, but with those powers comes incredible responsibility and the genuine ability to both learn from history and recall it in a snap.  I aspire to that sort of cleverness.
