A Word on Endorsements
So, Overwatch recently implemented an endorsement system, right? In theory, it's a great way to help keep the toxic people in their own cesspool of toxicity while letting the actual nice players play together.
But here's the thing: in order to succeed in an endorsement system, you have to be pretty active with the voice communication, which is super hard for people who get scared about that kind of thing. I have no problem with following target calls and whatnot, but when it comes to calling targets, or asking for peeling if I'm playing support, I freeze up. Part of this is due to my anxiety, and the other part is because of the responses I've gotten from other players if I try to do anything. "If you were a better Mercy, we wouldn't have to protect you," "Oh, you're a GIRL. Let us do the calls, just heal," "You're a fucking HEALER, your job is to fucking HEAL ME (from a Doomfist who was so deep in enemy lines I died every time I tried to get close enough to heal and I told him such)" "If you can't protect us with your shield then just fucking uninstall (from a team that refused my calls to group up and stayed scattered)". And honestly, my biggest fear about talking is my teammates hearing my voice. I have a very feminine sounding voice when I'm nervous, accentuated by a slight lisp. And half the time, when my team hears my voice, all respect for me is out the window. So I just use the chat, which is hella inconvenient and downright unacceptable in comp.
Really, the endorsement system will just make it worse, because if I can't talk, my rating won't go up, and I'll be stuck with the people who make me afraid to talk. The same goes for my partner, who has been mocked so much in speech channels for his voice that he downright refuses to use them. The same goes for anyone else who is afraid to talk or *can't* talk for whatever reason.
Imo the endorsement system is good for probably the majority of players, but could also potentially make the game unplayable for some of us.
