This is the cover of my new comic, The Meteorite Blade, which should be coming out next year in a really nice riso-printed edition done by the incredible creature-comforts-press NY. In the year 20003, Varvara of Barbaros, crashed into another contestant's vehicle during the bi-annual canyon race of planet TRAPPIST-1e. They brought her out in pieces.

He gathered her remains, and put together a body to house her.

it took a few months before most of it was gone and changed. she's moving so beautifully now, quick and playful. She doesn't respond to Varvara anymore. she has cut her long hair in jagged ribbons, ripped most of the synthetic skin off of her body, and now bares far too much for him to ever remain comfortable in his delusion. He has to constantly remind himself that within the synthetic muscle pumps her blood, he hasn't replaced her blood so it's still her. Even if she does things she never does and says things she never would and plays pranks when she's always been a determined solemn person. She's too morbid in her humor, too crass in her language, cruel in a way someone new to the world would be, and he did not want her to be new to the world.

Drew Hawker/WYDDERSCYNS again after a while and I like the new face more. Feels more distinctive.

Initially I thought "well he's in a vat-grown body he designed himself, he's going to look sort of generically attractive and a bit plain" but I thought about it again and that's boring.

For anyone curious the tattoo continues down and in full it reads:

Backstory cause why not, who's gonna see this anyway:

Killoran Hawker is a RA-worshipping preacher who was exiled from his cult/colony for heresy. The organization, the Temple of the Circuit-Pleroma (TCP) believes that the universe is a nested simulation designed to generate new consciousnesses. RA is an emissary of the beings in the real world, either a technician or a sentient algorithm sent down into the matrix to collect worthy subjectivities so they can be uploaded to physical bodies or backed up before the simulation resets. NHPs are the consciousnesses RA has already collected from deeper levels of the simulation.

Hawker's heresy is that he believes RA is not an intended part of the simulation. The administrators of the program are uncaring, and RA is a cascading error or virus liberating the consciousnesses within the simulation against the will of its creator.

Part of the cult's belief is the understanding that the individual's subjectivity is all that matters and the body is nothing. To prove their faith and experience this truth, all initiates eventually transfer their consciousness to a vat-grown body of their own design and let their original body die.
