in the wind, nana
was this the only place of peace within steel frames, and solid rock ? to the young air bender who sat beneath the twisted green branches of the tree above, the answer was yes. he could breathe here, the oxygen was clear, and the air was light, like the touch of silk against the skin. it was peaceful. and with peace came his moment of silence. where he could concentrate on what was important, and he could focus. having found a comfortably spot underneath one of the larger trees, he'd told himself not to climb it, and instead sat amongst its arched roots, legs crossed and hands rested gently upon his knees -- eyes closed. he focused on his home, across the sea and seemingly far away. he concentrated on the memory of it, and how he would (soon) return to it. he missed it, he missed the peace and quiet, and he missed how simple it seemed to be in comparison to the city he'd stepped foot in with his sister. drawing in the smallest of breaths, he allowed the memory and the peace it brought to wash over him in a wave of meditation. surely nothing could disturb him now.
