The party is in full swing by the time Skylar has her third glass of Champagne for the night but not even the buzz of the alcohol could make her feel comfortable about being at such a social function. It isn’t so much about her being around so many important people in their society or is it about said people and their tendencies to laugh a little too loudly and gossip a little too much about innocent people; no, it’s simply about Skylar never feeling completely at ease around them-- it’s entirely a discomfort that falls on her part.
Having had enough gossiping with the other female soldiers who recognized her amongst the crowd, she excuses herself and walks to the balcony for some much needed fresh air. The slit of her red dress makes the task so much easier despite and she’s thankful for having chosen it for out of all the females in the room, she’s the only who looks like she can still breathe and move despite being in such formal clothing and also manage to look as well kept and as beautiful as everyone else. The amusing thought is what she muses about as she lounges out in the balcony of the grand ballroom, the more quiet atmosphere allowing her to actually hear her thoughts.
Never being one to actually mind being alone, Skylar is amused to find a part of herself wishing she didn’t have to be alone tonight. No, she isn’t looking for anyone to take home and spend the night with, at least not in that way, but rather she feels oddly melancholic as she wishes that there be someone she could talk to-- someone who cared little about the latest gossip or trying to impress anyone. Unfortunately for her, the said person is probably in the middle of all the fuss inside the ballroom, after all, the Jung Heir always has so many people surrounding him that he would have no time at all to engage in boring and serious conversations with a commoner like her.
So, she simply rests against the granite of the balcony railings and concentrates on the almost muted sound of the party from where she is now. A soft melody tumbles out of her lips moments later as she starts singing along to the music playing inside; she’d wait just a little bit more and then hopefully, she could escape the party without any of her peers noticing it.
