"This is her. Rebecca Abigail Tundry. I met her when I was ten, or maybe we'd turned eleven by then? Robbie and I's pair suddenly became a gang of three, and we finished growing up out there. She was like a good medium between us. When something was more fun than stupid, it'd be two against one for doing it, but if it was stupid as hell, and there was a decent chance we could die, she'd be with Robbie, shaking her head.
I asked her out on her birthday. Her fifteenth birthday. I was still fourteen. This picture is from that day, after everyone else had left, Robbie was still inside. We had gone walking in the woods. Well, sometimes running and sometimes she was bouncing, and taking pictures of course, and I told her I liked her, and she went "No way, there's no way you like me," still bouncing away from me. I held up my camera and asked, "What if I want you to be my girlfriend?" and she turned and I snapped the picture.
She said yeah, and then we sat on the forest's floor for a while, just talking. And it was just really nice. I was too chicken to kiss her when we left that night, but I did kiss her cheek."
