Task 001 - The Reaping
TASK 005 -- FAMILY INTERVIEWS
Arista pulled her blanket tighter around her petite form as she listened to the raindrops hit the window in a soft rhythmic tapping. If she closed her eyes she could almost imagine she was back home listening to the song of a light summer rain, but alas, she was not at home. If the window was open she would have been able to hear the murmur of the excited crowd as the finale of the Quarter Quell drew closer and closer.
On the television was the usual chatter about Victors and tributes alike. Now that the field was narrowed to eight, the crowd waited with bated breath for the family interviews. It was Panem’s chance to get to know their possible Victor a little more. That was the thing about the people of Panem, they always wanted to know more. They wanted to know your secrets, your desires, your fears, your plans, and even your dreams. It was like they exposed every thread that weaved the fabric of your being.
Truthfully, she had often thought about what her own interview should have been had her father still been alive. What would he have said? He would have been so charismatic on the screens Panem would have loved him with his big amber eyes, sandy hair, and an easy smile. Arista couldn’t help but smile at the memory of her father.
Arlo Baize would have said...
TASK 005 - FAMILY INTERVIEWS
Cambric leaned back in his chair thinking about nothing in particular when his ears perked up at the sound of his name on the television. Normally he did not give it a second thought when Flickerman jabbered on endless about the Victors of Panem. Usually, his name was tied to some fashion blog or some attractive Victors list or whatever it was they were trying to spin.
Only this time, he was talking about taking a trip back down memory lane. Back to when Cambric was seventeen and a tribute from District Eight. It was a time Cambric tried to forget. Iolite’s beautiful face still haunted his dreams, his name forever on her dying lips, and the wisps of memories of the cave never left him. Cambric didn’t want to remember being a tribute because it was the one thing that was as bad as being a Mentor.
Yet, the music played and suddenly they were taken back to his top Eight family interview. His mom painted serene by the cameras and his little siblings ecstatic at the possibility Cambric might be coming home...
TASK 002 - TRIBUTE PARADE
Golden are the fields of District Nine and golden are their Victors as they escort their tributes to The Parade. This year Arista’s stylist has abandoned the flowy frilly dresses for a more grown-up style for the young Victor to usher her into adulthood. The Harvest girl has become the Harvest Princess.
TASK 002 - TRIBUTE PARADE
District Three’s technology lights up Panem. What would life be without the soft glow of a television screen (to watch the Games of course) or any other of the many screens that make the Capitol function? It is only fitting that their tributes glow with the success of their intellectual endeavors.
