Akechi is definitely planning a way to kill Joker and Maruki to break out of the world in that fake happy ending.

"I'm thinking about doing freelance." "Don't become a shut-in!"

Please he isn't doing freelance. That asshole is going to spend all his time trying to break out of the alternate reality. I can not imagine him just playing along with it or Maruki really able to constantly force him to stay in place. It would end in one of a few ways.

1. Akechi kills Joker who tried to stop him from destroying the alternate world. (Then Maruki either kills him or he kills Maruki.)

2. Akechi convinces Joker to help him break out of the alternate reality.

3. Maruki is forced to kill Akechi to keep the perfect world peaceful and only Joker realizes he's dead, but he can't actively mourn due to the rules of the "perfect" world.
