this is condensed dialogue from pita's strikers fic, which I held off on reading because it took me Four Whole Years to get around to actually playing strikers. it's sooo good it's top tier gen character study and it gives ryuji the arc he deserves. ryuji bought those skewers for yusuke btw

I really do love the scene in strikers where yusuke talks to natsume, it’s sooo good. yusuke is a guy who goes at his own pace and doesn’t really pay mind to restraint, but he *was* trained to be madarame’s show poodle. he does know how to maneuver in classy art galleries with buyers and judges and reporters and whatever. he knows how to fake & flatter convincingly, he just won’t when he doesn’t feel like there’s a good enough reason to (and when he’s not trying to fish information, he probably doesn’t get so… I wanna say ‘extreme’ with it). and then the second he gets what he needs he drops a conversational nuke on natsume and walks away lmao. putting the scene with the tattoo guy from shido’s palace right next to the scene with natsume.

oh yeah, that was the other barrier. one of the spinoff characters was an ai, the other was a cop.

I was thinking about strikers and natsumi's really stupid chuuni mannerisms like there's this pose he does in dragon form where he raises his hand to his face in a classic chuuni pose and I'm like 90% sure yusuke also does that type of gesture at some point. but he's not chuuni. he really is undergoing arduous trials set by the gods of art.
