Saving Face.
Coming back to work felt great; walking down the corridor to her desk felt like going home. It was an odd feeling; trying to relax at home when she was used to being on edge was almost impossible. Her badge hung around her neck, and her weapon was back on her hip, it was a comforting feeling and she couldn’t fight the small smile that took over her lips.
“A.B! Welcome back,“ someone greeted and the blonde didn’t need to turn back to know who was talking to her.
A moment later there were arms around her and she relaxed further at the contact. A kiss was pressed against her cheek before she turned to kiss her boyfriend. It was brief; just a small gesture before she was pulling back. There were rules at the workplace and she didn’t want to get suspended again.
“Good morning, Chris.“
“I’m pretty sure you have a mission waiting for you. Agent Millers is waiting for you.“
“Thanks.“
Leaving the man behind, A.B. made her way through the facilities. Then, she entered her boss’ office.
------
There was no way she was forgetting the Kevlar this time. Not like she forgot it in the past, but she wasn’t taking any mission for granted. Her expertise was needed on the field, and she was going to do her best to finish this one. It was important, and A.B. wasn’t part of the Intelligence branch just because of her looks or her ability on the field.
She was an expert gathering information; finding the missing piece to solve cases. The Bureau knew it, and that’s why she was part of this next case. They needed to investigate, going undercover wasn’t an option when someone knew her already. But taking her away from the field should be the right choice, but Agent Millers trusted her with this and she wasn’t going to let her down.
“Are you ready?“ Mark asked.
“Yes.“
Nodding at her field partner, A.B. following him into the SUV. It was time to get things done.
