Habitat: Tropical rainforests and wetlands
Strengths:
Excellent swimmers- can dive and remain submerged for up to 15 minutes
Can leap up to 1 m (3 ft 3 in)
The brown and white coat pattern provides camoflage against the dense rainforest foliage, and they can remain still for up to 45 minutes
Can produce a loud growling noise
Primarily nocturnal, with excellent night vision
As rodents, individuals have long, sharp incisors
Weaknesses:
They are the sixth largest rodent in the world, at up to 77 cm (30 in) in length and weighing 14 kg (31 lbs)
They are not adept climbers, preferring to stay on the ground
