YES! Okay, guys, this is history in the making. Are you ready? Fae and I have decided that we are both going to become famous authors, and through our work we will meet irl. I think this should happen on stage in some sort of Hank and John Green-like show of awesomeness, and then all of you and our future fans can be there fangirling. Oh, and there will be lots of fan fiction written about us, because duh. We’re going to meet like it’s fate through tumblr and the written word. This will be amazing. I really want this to happen. Y’all gotta buy my books, alright? Or we may never meet! *guilt trips*This has been documented publicly, officially. Our future fans will scour through the Internet in hopes of finding the post that solidified our fates. You have found it, future fan. I would give you a cookie, but it’ll probably be really old by the time you find this. Sorry.  <3

  The Words

I want to write words like a cold breeze on a warm night.

Words like shattering noise in a silent room.

Words that pierce the strongest man’s heart, slipping in like fire or creeping in like the deathly frost of ice.

I want to cause smile and scar, laughter and tear.

Words that burn into the mind like hot metal to wood.

Words that slip into the heart like sleep after a long day.

Words that change and confirm and bring anew.

Words that cause great thought, enough to move the ocean or as little as to float a leaf.

The right words for now, then and later.

The wrong words perhaps right someday or never at all.

The words that come to mind and must escape and the ones forced out by iron claws.

The words that will fall on the right ears and even the wrong.

The words that must be said simply because I thought them, whether new or old, right or wrong, dark or light.

The words that will be read for a day or a hundred years or only by my eyes.

The words, loved or hated, that come alight in the darkest of nights.

The words that mean something to someone, somewhere.

No matter who or why or how, just simply that they do.

How I See the World

It's fun being someone who sees beauty in the everyday. I'll get memorized by light flowing out of a window and dancing across the house, by shadows drawing pictures on the walls, by the immensity of color in the tiniest flower, the patterns in wood or the shape of a tree. I think I am largely this way because I'm a photographer. It stretches beyond that, though. I constantly pay attention to the way faces are shaped and the way light falls and creates depth because I draw. I see comparisons in things, interesting ways of describing them because I write, such as a tree reaching into the ground like a hand or the wind sounding like the earth breathing.

There are a lot of ways to look at the world and they can be quite an expansion of the mind. Pay attention; the world has a lot to show if we look at it the right way, even city buildings and winding cement roads. Art is everywhere.

Ah, so it goes.

I don't write a lot on my tumblr, and when I do it's often fiction or if not, it's written in a manner that's more writing than simply saying. I'm just not one to use my blog as a diary, but there are occasional times when there's something I'd like to say, but can't because I don't keep my blog from the people I know. I wouldn't name names or anything of the sort; it would still be written as anything I write, but I know better.

So, I write this instead. Perhaps my thoughts will find their way into a document that will never see, as I call it, the light of the internet. It works, but it's not quite the same. Not quite as real, in a sense, not quite alive.

I'm skeptical of the term "fictional character." I mean, I've met characters more real than some people I know.

This is what I post on Facebook late at night:

I was uninspired sitting in the same place I always do, so now I'm sitting on the floor in the living room with the front door open, the screen door closed and the lights off. All I can see is a vague light from the kitchen poorly illuminating the family room, the light of my laptop and the street light outside. Beyond the music in my headphones, I can hear the vague hum of the distant freeway. I can feel the cold night air seeping in and chilling my skin. I'm a little jumpy when the strange lighting conditions form patches of darkness as I look around, when mysterious lights pop on in the distance, when my music suddenly gets louder, but I'm only really afraid of the prospect of a spider hanging out in the darkness by the door frame. How strange this is. Let's see if the words flow better now.

Then as a comment: Oh no, the strange light is making noises. I do not like this. Yay for locked screen doors and front gates. I suspect it's someone rummaging through neighbor's trashcans, looking for bottles since the trash trucks come today. I can hear the distant clanging of the bottles. Hopefully the light of my laptop doesn't give way to my presence. Good thing, as well, that my front yard isn't small. Still, I'd prefer the night be silent. I'd probably be less jumpy if I turned on the lights, but that seems so...normal.

And finally: *in which Tessa writes a book about where she is sitting instead of actually writing her story*

Oh no, I've added more: Holy heart attack, a cat just walked across my front porch twice. Second time was as I was typing this. It stopped and looked in and in my startled-ness I said "boo!" and it ran off. The early morning is full of surprises. The sky is slowly turning from black to blue and the birds are chirping. And yes, I am writing. (because you totally care)

My decline into insanity continues: AHHH CAT AGAIN!! Sped right by. My yard is a kitty motorway. I am pretty sure that cat would be the kind of driver to run a red light. Just saying.
