1500 words on the Exchange fic that shall never be finished in time at this rate, since this is the first time since I started it that I've broken the four-digit mark on a daily run--and amireal introduced me to Aeon Timeline tonight on chat, so that's probably what all my productivity is going to tomorrow, let's be honest--but at least I made some progress!

No worries. I'm having to constantly update my vocabulary, too. :-)
My understanding is a hater is a person who hates someone else for their success or convictions and wants to knock them down a peg. Sort of jealousy, but without the wanting to be that person. Often used by the people hated upon to brush off or ignore the negativity from the other party. Classically used in the phrase "haters gonna hate" as sort of a "Well what are you going to do? Might as well ignore it."
I find the term particularly problematic in this context because (in my experience) the people this conspiracy group are calling haters actually have legitimate points about some of the more problematic issues of said conspiracy. Having a day of celebration seems (to me anyway) to be a way to further ignore and silence actual discourse, and to make underhanded, snarky jabs at people with different opinions than them. It also (again in my opinion) gives a bad name to people who ship John and Sherlock.
