What would you say is some of your favorite writing tropes?

I'll admit, I don't consciously think in tropes that often, but I know if I ponder it, I'll come up with some tropes I'm totally drawn toward subconsciously XD

Friends to Lovers - 100% my fave romance trope, I think it tends to be the most realistic and most adorable romantic arc

Found Family - I like it in general, but I'm particularly a sucker for adults bedgrudgingly/unintentionally treating a kid like their child *cough* Irondad and Spiderson *cough* sorry, got something in my throat

those are the only two that actually came to mind, so don't mind me looking up a list of writing tropes to remind myself...

Oh!

Secret Identity - I adore secret identity stories!!!! The tension of the main character navigating keeping it a secret and then eventually deciding or being forced to tell someone!! I eat up the reveal every time

Ummm... dunno if this counts as a trope, but the sunshine cinnamon roll characters are almost always my favorites :3

And a bonus trope I do NOT like

Love Triangle 👎👎 - sigh I feel like it is rarely done well, but used so often. I find that 99% of the time, it's so obvious which person the MC will end up with, so the triangle time with the other person just drags out the plot and causes miscommunication (bonus-bonus! I despise miscommunication tropes when they're dragged out way too long just to keep the story going) I like having a clear ship to root for, okay?

As a writer, I will always text in one of two specific ways

1) Meticulous, fully-formed sentences that I reread at least three times and tweak for clarity and concision.

2) all lowercase, using as many acronyms/shortenings of words as possible, and intentionally sillyfying words cuz I wanna have funsies with typing that I can't in books :3

It's so much harder to talk about a story frequently after it's published because you've moved on to writing the next story and now it consumes your mind 24/7, and so your relationship with your previous story becomes more distant and you forget little details about it and you still love the time you spent with it but it just isn't the same anymore

but you have to figure out how to talk about it

The busy worm DOESN'T GET TO WRITE :(

[HELP I realized right after posting that I should've said 'bird' cuz that makes more sense with the play on words I was trying to do, but 'worm' is funnier so I'm keeping it]

I've had a busy busy few weeks and haven't managed to do any writing that whole time T-T

I'm sure this unintended break will be useful because being deprived of writing gives my creative juices a chance to recharge, but its been rough because I want to write.

Sometimes I don't write for an extended period of time because my creativity has been depleted and I need to recharge - but this has been a forced recharge before I actually hit low power mode.

Even this decision to lock in with Tumblr as a second social media platform is something I've been sitting on for over a week now (shoutout @irayena - even in your Insta goodbye post, you managed to be an inspiration 🥲 - idk how often you check Tumblr but I'm still tagging you). I finally found a solid chunk of time to sit down and explore on here a bit and redo my introduction post tonight.

So yeah, I've been yearning for my wips and feeling mini surges of inspiration whenever I check the socials and see moots talking about their lovely projects... but alas I could not join in :'(

I thiiiiink stuff will settle down soon, but I'm pretty sure I still have a good bit of busyness for the rest of this week :'D

Anyway, this has been nice! I do like the option for more rambly things like this here on Tumblr
