Friday Five

Maine is gorgeous.

Mom is doing well but achey (too be expected) and nervous about fucking up the repair (also to be expected).

I made a delicious late lunch/early dinner for us but in the process set off all 4 fire alarms in her place. So a bit of an adrenaline rush that neither of us needed.

Caretaking is hard. On both of us. Mom hates to have to rely on others and to feel like a burden. I’m tired from going up and down stairs, keeping track of meds, keeping her comfortable and not giving into my sense of guilt that I’m not going to be here for as long as she needs.

I miss my husband. I miss our dog. I wish we’d win the lottery so that we could be where we need to be when we need without worrying about work and *waves hands* everything.

Saturday Stuff

First day of a three day weekend. Leisurely morning coffee while I read.

Then my Saturday morning strength training class. Ass thoroughly kicked. Then grocery shopping.

Matt made strawberry ice cream for his mom — his parents drove down for mom’s birthday dinner at our favorite fish place then home for cake & ice cream.

Not even 7 pm yet and am cozy in my favorite pajamas. Punk as fuck.
