Sometimes, it’s nice to enjoy the finer things in life. You have to take a day and choose to be a little more… cultured. Kibum used to do this a lot; just walk around one of the art districts and hit up all of the galleries that had showings. Sometimes he’d watch plays and see live shows. He even thought about acting as a backup career.
It just got to be a little too expensive.
Right now, he’s doing fairly well. He’s not struggling for food, so he’s decided to visit some of his favorite places. It’s a good time of year, too. Everyone’s looking for new content.
He manages to find that pretty easily. There’s an event going on in Hyoja-dong featuring newer artists. The streets aren’t overly crowded, but there is a bit more bustle than he’s seen in the past. Nobody seems to notice the sun is slowly dissolving from the sky and making way for the stars.
The last set of double glass doors he pushes through at the end of his short tour leads him into another world of color. Well, mostly. The white walls and hardwood floors don’t do much for the atmosphere (he’s always had a problem with the clinical feel of some of these places), and the temporary nature of the event probably prohibited more permanent installations that would take up more than the average amount of space allotted.
But the paintings, oh god. They’re beautiful. His brain has a little trouble putting together the right words to describe the feeling. He takes a second to mentally hit save on the sign from the front door: Kim Jongin.
He wanders from canvas to canvas, admiring the detail. Then he looks up to find an equally beautiful man standing just outside of the flow of traffic in the room. Fantastic cheekbones, a little shy-looking.
Kibum moves again. He’s always been a little too friendly for his own good.
“Gorgeous, don’t you think?” He starts, sidling up to his new friend. He stops just a little short, because he’s not that kind of guy (he likes to give people their space until he knows them), and continues to survey the room. “I haven’t seen the name before, but I’ll definitely be looking out for it in the future.”
