3. have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
yeah i’ve unfollowed quite a few people over fandom opinions, mostly when they tend to lean towards the extremes of stanning adrien and hating marinette, alya, nino and so on. i’ve noticed unfortunately that most of the people who hate marinette have quite a few other ‘opinions’ that are pretty toxic and i don’t want to expose myself to that attitude.
5. has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
yeah adrien x marinette. i was okay with it before i entered fandom and saw the lengths people went to to ship them and how they shipped them. mostly that so many people made smut of them and took them so far out of character it was intolerable.
6. has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
kagami x marinette. it was probably mostly internalised homophobia but after i sort of came to terms with my own sexuality i branched out and read this amazing series on ao3 about kagami and marinette a while ago and it completely changed my mind. it was about kagami coming to terms with inevitable genetic blindness, ancestral curses, marinette getting struck with a blindness akuma and the two bonding if anyone knows of the series let me know i’d love to share it with everyone.
7. is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
marichat specifically. i was intrigued initially because the dynamic was so different to all the other love square dynamics. unfortunately i saw quite a few fanfics which were very...they were gross is the best way i could describe it. and it just completely ruined it for me, now that i’m taking a more active thought approach to the pairing though, i can see that canon makes it very bad too.
