Setting Foot at the Grotto of Kamay ni Hesus|The Philippines
Located south of Luzon, Lucban, Quezon is not only known for its decorative and colorful Pahiyas Festival, Pancit Lucban and Lucban longganisa, but also for its pilgrim site, the grotto of Kamay ni Hesus.
Via Dolorosa Grotto or popularly known as Grotto of Kamay ni Hesus is a religious healing center initiated by the known healing priest, Fr. Joey Faller. The three hectare property cradles several religious functions and images, most prominent of which is the fifty foot-statue of the Ascending Christ located atop of a hill. To reach the famous image, one must brace himself for a three-hundred step hike.

Travelling on a Sunday morning of January, my friends and I found ourselves heading to the province of Quezon to escape the busy streets of the city. The slow transit of the bus upon entering the borders of the province was perfect to enjoy the sight of the proud coconut trees standing tall and of the relaxing ambiance. And as we got nearer our destination, a familiar fellow greeted us with its majestic beauty, the Mt. Zion of the Philippines, Mt. Banahaw.
We were caught in great awe to see this marvelous land form vis-a-vis. No longer now does it only appear in the prints.
And, after almost three hours of travel, we finally reached Lucena City and boarded a forty five-minute jeepney trip going to Lucban.
The long journey was all worth it when we reached the place. The multitude of the hundredfold strong Catholics, beautiful landscaping and the grandeur of the environment were all impressive.
We attended the 11:30 am Mass before the climb. Masses are celebrated as follows:
Weekdays - 9:00 am; Saturdays - 5:00pm (Anticipated Mass); Sundays - 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 4:00pm.
Healing Masses are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 9:30am.
It was passed one o'clock when we reached the 50-foot tall image of Christ.
After a half day of travel and hike, it was time for the most wonderful part of the day, lunch! We chose to satisfy our cravings at Palaisdaan and we didn't go wrong.
This restaurant is a tricycle away from the grotto and offers wide varieties of food selections at a great taste and a good price. The floating kubo adds up to the serenity and tranquility of the place, a perfect vicinity to eat and relax. We chose to spend the rest of the day here.
Post Note
The whole experience at the Kamay ni Hesus and in the province of Quezon as a whole was very refreshing and relaxing, both in the mind, body and the soul.If you are looking for a one day weekend getaway of peace, Quezon province is a place for you. Also, it is worth mentioning that the weather during our whole day stay was awesome. It was incredibly cold.So you better take your jacket with you for the place is a natural rainforest, it drizzles every now and then.
