Aldebaran: What’s something you care desperately about?

I honestly care desperately about most things. I care about far too much. But I care a lot about school right now, unfortunately. ALSO MAKING IT TO FALL BREAK ON THURSDAY. AFTER I TAKE THE GRE. (INSERT SCREAMING HERE)

Hydra: Favourite sound?

Rain mixed with a little bit of gentle thunder. 

Comet: What’s your big dream?

The ultimate dream is me, with a doctorate, curator or director of an awesome museum and/or professor of history at a great university. I’m debt-free in this dream, with a nice, cozy apartment, amazing friends and family, and maybe a cat. 

The more realistic dream is me just with a job in general and an okayish apartment.

6. Are you religious or spiritual?

I'm a Christian. Not as good of one as I should be, but I try. Overall, I take my relationship with God really privately and even though I should work a little harder, I'm pretty happy with where I'm at as well. 

15. Five most influential books over your lifetime. 

UHH. I'M THE WORST AT ANSWERING THIS QUESTION

1) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - The book that really got me into reading when I was 8. 

2) Ella Enchanted - My copy at home is basically worn to pieces. 

3) Toss-up between Alanna and Wild Magic - I lived off Tamora Pierce novels in middle school. Alanna was my first but the Immortals quartet was my favorite. ALSO THE BEKA COOPER BOOKS LATER ON. Man just all the Tamora Pierce (except Protector of the Small which was my least favorite shh I can hear certain people yelling)

4) The Book Thief - I'm a mess every time. 

5) Pride and Prejudice - my first "classic" novel. Also I over-identify with Elizabeth Bennett but us Lizzy's with a Y need to stick together YO. 

18. What's your patronus?

OH N O. I literally have no clue?? I wanna say something cool like a wolf or cat but ??? ? ? ?

OH LAWDY I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT WAS COMING TOO. I mean, picture Chief Astrid at Stoick's age, all muscular and battle-worn and majestic as frick. And maybe she and Hiccup have a child who spends the days exploring the world with dad and the nights wrapped up with badass momma Chief who tells teaches 'em what it means to be a part of a community. Old Chief Astrid passing on the mantel to some spritely young'un, weary but proud as hell of what she did for her tribe.

Sing me the song of Viking Chief Astrid and her husband Hiccup the Dragon Rider.  Because, god, wanna talk about a powerhouse?  You have the steady rock Astrid who keeps the village alive and running, and you have rushing wind of Hiccup discovering the world and I just.

8 was answered.

9. - A bit of the one I'm editing for class at the moment.  Dude name Jones builds a house to move on after the death of his estranged father (Hint, the house is a metaphor) and finds himself saddled with a local teen, Scott, who also dad issues.

At the end of the day, Jones pounded the last nail into the deck floor of the porch.  He dragged one of his coolers over to just next to the wall of the house, and sat on it.  From the other, sitting directly across from him, he pulled out a beer and popped the cap off.  He let it clatter to the deck.  He could pick it up later.

         “This doesn’t look too bad,” said Scott.  He walked up and sat on the unrailed deck.  “Are you going to paint it white?”

            “Probably,” said Jones.  He pointed at the awning, bottle held loose in his fingers.  “I might put green around the edges.  Maybe the rail, too, once I finish that.”

            “That’ll be nice,” said Scott.  He scratched a fingernail against the wood.  “I was thinking,” he said.  “Tomorrow I’m going to start on your garden.”

“I have a garden?” Jones asked.  He squinted down the driveway.  “Where?”

“It’s in the back, just before the tree line,” said Scott.

“You mean the weed patch?” asked Jones.  Scott nodded.  “Huh.  I never realized that was a garden.”

“That’s because it’s not a garden, it’s a disgrace,” said Scott.  “Which is why tomorrow I’m going to fix that.”
