Lady Mary Fitzalan

Mary Howard, Duchess of Norfolk (née Lady Mary FitzAlan; 1540 – 23/25 August 1557) was an English noblewoman and translator of the English language. The daughter and sole heiress of Henry FitzAlan, 12th Earl of Arundel, she married Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk. She died as a teenager shortly after the birth of her son, the Saint Catholic Philip Howard, 13th Earl of Arundel, who lived to unite the FitzAlans and Howards into one dynasty, with Arundel Castle as its seat.

Toilettes de diner ou de casino.

Robe en faille merveilleuse rose du Bengale. Jupe garnie d'un haut volant de dentelle nuance ivoire. Tunique en même faille drapée en arrière. Paniers de dentelle pareille à celle du volant. Corsage à pointe en même faille. Manches demi-longues, garnies de dentelle. Corsage ouvert avec ruche de même dentelle. Sur le côté de gauche, le panier de dentelle est drapé à l'aide d'une cordelière de soie rose.

Robe en faille merveilleuse bleu pâle et chiné pompadour sur fond blanc. La jupe ronde est plissée perpendiculairement sur le devant. Celui-ci est encadré de deux panneaux en chiné. Les lés de derrière sont drapés. Grande veste en faille pareille à celle de la jupe, avec grands nœuds sur les poches. La veste s'ouvre devant sur un très-long gilet fait en chiné et garni d'une dentelle ancienne. Les manches de la veste sont garnies de dentelles avec revers de dentelle et grand col de dentelle. Gants très-longs couvrant entièrement le bras.

Gorgeous Bengal Rose Faille Dress. Skirt trimmed with a high flounce of ivory lace. Tunic in the same faille draped at the back. Panniers of lace similar to that of the flounce. Pointed bodice in same faille. Half-long sleeves, trimmed with lace. Open bodice with same lace ruffle. On the left side, the lace pannier is draped with a pink silk cord.

Wonderful pale blue and China pompadour faille dress on a white base. The round skirt is pleated perpendicularly on the front. This one is framed by two China panels. The back lengths are draped. Large double-breasted jacket similar to that of the skirt, with large bows on the pockets. The jacket opens in front on a very long China waistcoat and trimmed with old lace. The sleeves of the jacket are trimmed with lace lapels and a large lace collar. Very long gloves covering the entire arm.

Please excuse the mess.  So a few people were aware of this but last semester I opted for apersonal project as one o fmy modules. I later found out usually this means making something like a corset or a couple of petticoats rather than a full costume - but I proposed making Belle from beauty and the beast, with the aim of fitting the live action movies aesthetic a little more than what the movie went with. This gold dress has over 60 meters of steel between the corset and pannier, 8 meters of gold satin, and I didnt actually count how much of the cotton that makes up the foundation garments. A crazy amount of this was sewn by hand because it had to be (all that chiffon decoration, the embroidery on the stomacher, the hem decoration ect) and its all entirely bespoke! For funsies heres the dress split 50/50 with the dress from the movie so you can see a direct comparison of shape and style.  Anyway Im very proud of this, I’m submitting it to my graduation show for display. Please dont ask how much it cost the answer is too much.
