Workshopping
They did it. They really did it! They managed to showcase the worst of the BL/entertainment industry while also giving Pan and Nott a happy ending. I'm dying! 😭🥰
An imperfect comparison of 'workshopping' and the results for @placetneplacet.
Pan just wants to be loved so badly but he's also so scared of the idea of that love being conditional, that love being based on something that can change, the idea that love is something that's a lie, the certainty that whatever he shares with Nott isn't real and can't be real and even if it was real that it wouldn't be enough. Pan craves approval but he craves the ability to control that approval, to pick and choose who approves of him and when they approve of him and how he is approved of and how he's loved and who loves him.
Nott has accepted that the life he leads is a lie over his reality and he wants to live in that lie, he wants to be part of that lie, he wants his life to be the lie he's living that he knows is a lie but also isn't a lie. Nott wants this love to be a real love and he wants more and the control he wants isn't the same control that Pan wants, it's a smaller control, it's a different control, it's a control of a tiny corner of his life while he gives up the rest to fate.
The hardest part about being loved and in the public eye in that your love is always judged and your every move is being watched, that you are trying to convince the world that a lie is the truth while trying to balance being yourself and being who the world wants and being what the public expects and being who you have to be to succeed but also being who you have to be to survive.
I liked how Nott trapped Pan with his legs. It was comforting reassurance that he was right there. But also like, you almost just died, I’m keeping you right here.
So are Toh and Nuea previous characters that Pan and Nott have played in the show? I know those are their SCOY characters’ names. So is SCOY the show Nott and Pan made before Mafia Baby? I haven’t finished SCOY yet, so I don’t know if that flashback scene was supposed to be from there.
On a semi-related note, I love that Y-Destiny was used as P’s in-series series. And that they showed Nuea and Sun in ep 3. It’s so funny to me. And Copy B instead of Copy A Bangkok. And the references to Y-Destiny and You Never Eat Alone for the producer guy.
I know that this was a really emotional and sad and beautiful and sweet scene. But after a while, I felt like Pan was just a head. No body. Just a head in Nott's hands.
