Happy Wednesday Friends! Today I'm sharing a quirky ATC (artist trading card) I've created using Art by Marlene images and collage paper. For those who are unfamiliar with ATC's, they are small art cards measuring 2.5" x 3.5" and are intended to be traded. Personally, I like to create them, put them in my bag and when out and about, leave them in random places for others to find..ya know like the painted rocks. This is a Papercrafters branded fountain pen in green marbled celluloid from the 1930s. The pen is about 5 5/16 inches long. The clip is stamped PAPERCRAFTERS and there are no other maker’s marks on the pen. It’s possible the pen was made for The Papercrafters, Inc. a company started in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1923 with $50,000 with William H. Strain, Jr. as president and Wellington G. Reynolds as treasurer, as announced in the February 21, 1923 issue of Paper. According to the April 28, 1936 Official Gazette of the United States Patent Office the company filed for the trademark E. Z. C. for blackboard crayons, crayons and pencils, claiming use since January 1, 1934 and was filed January 29, 1936 as number 374,316, indicating they were at least in the pencil and crayon business. The pen has a Waterman number 2 nib, stamped WATERMAN’S over REG. U. S. over PAT. OFF. over 2, which is likely a replacement.
