Figured I'd add onto this post without reblogging it. Mainly because there's something else I neglected to mention.

Gaster is not Sans's brother...

Sorry this is gonna be another rant, but I just need to get it off my chest.

The amount of "Papyrus in Deltarune" theories that I hate just grew by one. Why is everyone talking about Gaster being Sans's brother now!? Look, I get it. Ya'll are getting ragebaited over a colored version of the Gaster door. But that doesn't suddenly mean that Gaster is Sans's brother!!

Sans specifically says "little brother" and Gaster definitely looks older than Sans.

How do you know that Gaster is even behind the colored door? THEY DIDN'T GO IN!!!

Gaster is most likely the one pulling the strings of everything happening in Deltarune. How could he do that from within the game?

Now listen. No hate to anyone who likes Gaster or even those who theorize that he and Papyrus are the same person, but no.

This is NO WAY.

Do I think Papyrus is Gaster?

I realized I’ve never actually stated this on this blog. But… yeah. The answer is yes. I didn’t used to, but if you follow my blog you know I’m maybe, just a tad bit, obsessed with Papyrus.

It was during the creation of a 14 page document analyzing Papyrus’s speech habits that clues started coming together. The longer I looked into unrelated things (characterization, speech habits, etc.), the more obvious it seemed to me even when I wasn’t trying to prove that point.

At the current point, I am pretty sure that Papyrus is Gaster/a part of Gaster. (Though I wouldn’t be too surprised if they’re connected in a different way. I WILL be surprised if they aren’t connected at ALL.)

Do I want Papyrus to be Gaster?

No :)

That’s why you don’t really see much theorizing about it on this blog, and why my art and fics don’t really incorporate that as a headcanon. I focus mainly on Undertale stuff and I’m pretty sure any developments on this whole theory would come from Deltarune. (Of which I play, (not chaps 3 or 4 yet though) but am not active in that half of the fandom.) I also HATE headcanon wars so I just… avoid that whole debacle.

Would I hate if Papyrus was Gaster? Nah! I’m obsessed with Papyrus in any form and I’m sure that would extend to if this turns out to be true. I also love fanworks that incorporate the theory. To be honest, 90% of my fun in fandom comes from seeing all the million different headcanons and interpretations, and I don’t even tend to keep my own headcanons consistent from fic to fic that I work on. (I like exploring different possible explanations or interpretations)

But I can’t really say I want it to be canon. (I love dadster…)

I think most of the people talking about this theory that I’ve seen are excited about it and want it to be true. I… don’t, really? I’m mostly ambivalent, because if it does turn out to be true, I’ll probably just continue to avoid using it in my fics and embrace the Alternative Universe tag.

So yeah!!!

TLDR; I’m pretty sure Papyrus is part of Gaster but I almost never incorporate that into my works, and you probably won’t see any more on that theory on this blog beyond this post or reblogged art/fics that use the headcanon.
