Ruby was up pacing in the living room waiting for David and Jefferson to return. She knew she shouldn't worry, but they were her best friends, family, and they should have been home by now. She had stayed home with Emma and Grace while they went out to fight The Evil Queen. She knew how important it was to all of them, David especially, to get back at The Evil Queen for what she did to Snow, but she had reminded both of them to do their best to stay safe. She, herself had stayed home to keep the girls and their home safe. There had been no sign of the fight getting closer to home, but she was still glad she had stayed. They had all suffered enough loss already. She knew none of them would be able to handle the loss of a daughter.

Ruby stopped pacing when she heard someone at the door. A moment later David came in and she rushed to him, throwing her arms around him and hugging him as tight as she could knowing he could handle it. "Took you long enough. I finally had to send the girls to bed an hour ago. They wanted to stay up and wait for you guys, but they both have big tests tomorrow..." She trailed off as she looked around and noticed Jefferson hadn't come in with David. "Wait... where's your boyfriend, you didn't leave him behind did you?" She couldn't resist the urge to try and quell her own panic by teasing David about his crush on their other best friend, but she had a bad feeling about Jefferson's absence.

To Sebastian, David was the wild card of the evening. Meaning, he was the one element he’d had the least amount of interactions with and he wasn’t positive how things would go. He’d barely spoken to the man to be honest, but considering he was now married to his boyfriend’s brother, he figured it was about time to change that.

“David,” he said in greeting. “Glad to see you both survived the ceremony.”

Emily simply couldn’t believe that it was nearly November; another year had gone by and she found herself single on another Halloween. After his extravagant promposal, she’d been so sure that an official DTR was coming from David, yet his efforts had trailed off. They’d stayed companionable, of course, but it was as if he thought one show of affection was enough to make up for his scorn of fairies, his public embarrassment at her New Year’s party... all of it. Now, after months of sitting around and waiting, she was sick of it. She’d dressed up in the loveliest of purple gowns, she had on a beautiful mask, her blonde hair cascaded down her back in curls... and she waited a tasteful distance from the punch bowl, sure that tonight someone with a bit more sense than Prince David would finally set his sights on her and start Emily towards her happily ever after...

Red didn’t bother to knock on the door of her best friend’s home before walking in with a bag of fries from her Granny’s diner in hand. “Hey,” she said both in greeting and to get David’s attention. She plopped down onto the couch, bag on lap. “Did you know we’re actually supposed to hate each other?” She asked as she popped a fry into her mouth.

In truth, he didn't know what he did to earn the punches that landed on his ribs. One moment he was enjoying the shadows of peace, the next torn from his cage and beaten by some master. He wasn't surprised, there didn't need to be a reason, he knew well enough he was just a tool for the creature's entertainment.

Out into the courtyard he is eventually flung, tossed by the master when he had his fill of the mutt from the hall. Pushing off from the ground to rest on his knees, lips bloodied, sides sore, he hears someone approach.

"Thought you said you were done..." he lowly mutters, not yet looking up.

Too Close || Victoria & David

She didn't get a good night's sleep the previous night. Perhaps she would have to talk to the landlord about the noise problems in her building. It wasn't like the walls are thin. Her beighbours are just so loud during footballl matches. And even though she understood the World Cup fever, it was getting ridiculous. A mild headache was forming at the back of her head. Victoria could feel her temples pounding, though it was light. She figured a good cup of coffee and some breakfast on the go would make the headache go away, before heading to her office.

The cafe she frequented was always filled to the brim. Usually she'd just sashay her way to the front, ignoring the queue and order her routine latte and a cream cheese bagel. But today the usual barista serving her wasn't around and Victoria thought it'd be wise not to act like she owned the place. At first it was just a brush against the small of her back. Her skin crawled, sending shivers down her spine. She hates being touched by a stranger even if it seemed accidental. Victoria could only inch forward, careful to not to touch the man in front of her. Again, there was another brush against her back. 

"Excuse me? Could you please mind your own space?" Victoria remarked sharply, turning around to glare. With her heels, she towered over the measly looking man behind her. And what made her sick was when he gave her a dirty grin, baring his dark yellow teeth. "Ain't no space here, lady. You want space, you get yourself a hotel room."

Adrenaline coursed through her veins as Lucy darted through in and out of the large, menacing looking trees in the forest, narrowly missing colliding with them. The cold night air whipped against her body as she made her way further and further into the forest. Every so often, she would glance around at her surroundings, making sure that no one was following her. It was her first full moon in a while, since her accident, and though Lucy was trying to keep calm and collected, nerves were gathering at the pit of her stomach.

Her nervousness wasn’t just a result of being out in the field for the first time in a while. It was far more than that. For weeks before the full moon, she had been waking up, breathless and shaking, nightmares filled with images of her loved ones perishing violently. It was clear that the constant deaths in Mystic Falls were getting to her, but how could it not? She’d already lost people she knew and cared about, she couldn’t lose anyone else. The lists of victims were growing by the week and she knew that they would only keep on growing, until someone could stop whatever was going on.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted it. The wolfsbane trap hung from a tree, the coarse ropes wrapped around one of the branches. The way it worked was rather ingenious; the victim would tread on a particular spot near the tree and it would set off a complicated looking net which then would trap the victim and leave them writhing in pain as the wolfsbane coated ropes burnt into their skin. Ingenious but disgusting. Lucy shot a glowering look at it; the whole idea was despicable, entrapping someone, not an animal, a person in this, and just leaving them as the wolfsbane burnt through their flesh.

She quickly made her way over to it and then leant against the tree, pulling out the long, silver knife from her black boot. Focusing on the thick rope, Lucy started cutting at the trap, cursing quietly to herself as her hands became coated in the purple powder, knowing that too much of it could even poison humans. A look of determination was etched across her face as she sawed into the trap, her fingernails digging into the rope to grip it.

[Nate skated up to the front doors of Bristol, looking up at the building with a small smile. The big skate competition was coming up on May 16th and he needed some intense practice time and figured it'd be better to have someone there. He sat on the curb and lit a cigarette, waiting for David to join him.]
