The day that Anna had both been looking forward to as well as dreading. She had decided that it was finally time that she came clean to Tristan about the way that she had been feeling for years. They hadn’t seen one another for a while and Anna had missed her more than she could even begin to describe. Being apart from Tristan had never been easy, but it had almost gotten worse as they got older. However, she was now going to get to see her best friend after so long apart and she could only hope that things would go right when she told Tristan the truth about the way that she felt.
Walking into the coffee shop where they had decided to meet, Tristan determined to get her coffee fix, Anna glanced around and then noted that her best friend wasn’t there yet. She moved to grab herself and Tristan a coffee, as well as a danish for them both before taking a seat at a booth to wait. She pulled out her phone and let out a breath, attempting to calm herself before her friend arrived. She didn’t want to make herself sick by freaking out about everything before she arrived.
When she heard the bell ring, she looked up, swallowing harshly when she saw Tristan walking in. She was so gorgeous. Overwhelmingly so and she just couldn’t believe that she was finally there after so long. “T! Over here!” She called out, standing up to greet her.
It wasn't exactly an unusual thing. She wasn't entirely sure what time normal ten year olds fell asleep but she doubted that it was this late. She doubted that normal ten year olds had no parents or family to go to when they had nightmares, too. Normal ten year olds had and did a lot of things she didn't, or couldn't, or wouldn't. Whatever. It wasn't her fault that life had screwed her over. And, if it was, she refused to think about it - getting angry at the world was better than having to think too much about her part in the way her life was turning out. She sat up, dropping her legs over the edge of the bed and letting them hang there. Her toes scraped the floor as she swung her feet absently.
“You awake?”
It was about midnight, Jordan guessed. To be honest, she didn't have a clue what time it was, but assuming midnight couldn't be far off. It was certainly dark enough for it to be midnight. Plus midnight held a lot more mystery than 11pm or 1am. She'd heard once that ghosts came out at midnight. Funny, how that information had stopped scaring her. It was dumb, she knew that. Ghosts weren't real, or she would've seen one by now. It was a nice thought, though. And nice thoughts were sometimes better than the angry ones, if she was honest. Maybe because the nice thoughts seemed to be pushed to the back of her mind by the angry ones during the day, when people gave her sympathetic looks and asked questions full of pity.
“Because if you aren't, I’m waking you up and saying you were snoring.”
Maybe a little mean, but if she wasn't going to sleep, she at least wanted some company. That wasn't too much to ask, was it?
These past couple of months had been weird. Back in October, Katherine had been knocked out by something or someone that she didn’t remember and when she woke up, she swore some blood had been taken from her. After that, it had happened again, where people were dying and needed her blood to complete their transition - but they weren’t humans becoming vampires, they’d been werewolves. The brunette failed to understand how her blood could complete a werewolf’s transition and what that even made them at all because Katherine had never heard of such a thing before. However, Malia had figured it out after the second time, when she’d caught Katherine’s scent and recognized it. At that time, she’d given Malia her blood to complete Nate’s transition and then it was needed again with other werewolves who were about to die. Since Katherine wasn’t the playing nice kind of person, she always expected something in return. If they were gonna use her as some sort of werewolf saving machine, she wanted to get something out of it herself too. And right now, she was still owed more than plenty for giving people her blood and she was coming to collect soon. Little did she know that tonight, she’d need to give her blood to a werewolf yet again, but she wasn’t gonna do it for free when the time would come. If they wanted her blood, which seemed valuable for some reason, they could give something up for it in return. The vampire had been spending some time at Eclipse for some dinner, but as nice as solid food was, she craved something more fresh afterwards. After leaving the restaurant, Katherine decided to follow a girl into the woods, but she couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the situation as she paused for a moment. Seriously? Taking a shortcut through the woods at night? In a town like Mystic Falls? Where it was known that people kept disappearing mysteriously? The humans in this place really needed to wake up and stop being ignorant when it came to what was really going on around them. “They’ll never learn. This is like shooting fish in a barrel sometimes.” the brunette sighed in a fake, overly dramatic tone of voice, heading after the human female with a smirk covering her lips. Her eyes had already turned a maroon color, with her sharp fangs coming out soon after. Catching up with the woman, Katherine covered her hand with her mouth as her pupils began to dilate, compelling the human. Part of her had already been impatient the second she’d spotted the woman in front of her, because detecting the sound of her beating heart wasn’t hard to do. In fact, she could practically smell the blood at this point. “You will stay still and not scream while I have myself a nice dinner.”
When Annabeth had found out that Tristan’s dad had passed away, she had spent hours and hours on the phone with her best friend. She had gotten absolutely no sleep, but that hadn’t mattered at all. What had mattered, was being there for the person that she cared about most in the world; especially after something so incredibly terrible. When Tris had finally fallen asleep, Anna had gone down to her parents and demanded that she be allowed to take the week off school to go to the town where Tristan now lived and be there for her friend. It hadn’t actually taken much effort to get them to agree which was something that Anna appreciated, giving them a big hug to show how much it meant to her before running up to her room to pack. She had called Mrs. Ramirez to make sure that it was okay before figuring out the rest of the details.
That led her to walking off of the plane the next day, being met by one of the Ramirez family members and driven to their new house. She took in the place, still so shocked by them not living in San Francisco. She walked in and was immediately engulfed in a hug by Mrs. Ramirez, holding to the woman that she considered her second mother for as long as she needed to be held. Eventually, she pulled back and was told that Tristan was up in her room. She moved up the stairs of the unfamiliar house and turned to the room on the left before knocking lightly on the door.
Involving: Allison Argent, Christopher Argent, Victoria Argent, Alaric Saltzman.
Date: Friday, June 9, 2017.
Time: 11 PM, EST.
Location: Christopher and Victoria Argent’s home, the woods.
District: Mystic Falls, Virginia.
Trigger warning(s): Violence, death.
Information: Allison overhears her parents talking about her aunt Kate and how she apparently isn’t ever coming back. This prompts her to storm out of the house, with her mother following her and being killed by a werewolf in the woods. Afterwards, Alaric finds a completely devastated Allison in the woods.
“It’s been months, Chris. We can’t tell her.” Victoria was sitting in the living room with her husband, both of them slightly leaning over the dining table as they faced one another. They were having a serious conversation after Allison had come over for dinner, though it had been a very late dinner. She was now out to get some dessert because she felt like spoiling all three of them and since her parents didn’t have any dessert inside the house, she didn’t mind heading out to buy some. In her absence however, Chris and Victoria were talking about Kate, his sister. Her disappearance was the reason why the family moved to Mystic Falls many years ago, when Allison had only been a junior in high school. Kate had gone missing and they’d moved here to go looking for her. Only now, Chris and Victoria discovered that Kate’s dead body was found by the lake recently. She’d been brutally murdered and Chris had been the one who had found his sister back January. They had been keeping Kate’s death a secret from their daughter for months and continued to lie about it. As far as Allison knew, Kate was still missing and everyone was doing whatever they could to find her. Only, no one was looking for her anymore because Chris had already found her - he just hadn’t told Allison about it, but he was talking about the event to his wife now. "I know. No matter how hard it is, I know we can’t tell her. She’s better off not knowing. But she’s been asking a lot of questions lately and I don’t know how many fake answers we still have left.” he pointed out, receiving a nod from his wife who was agreeing with him. “We’ll just have to try harder to make it believable. We try harder and Allison will stop asking questions about Kate. Your sister’s never coming back.”
Victoria didn’t know that in that moment, Allison had returned with dessert, but her parents hadn’t heard her coming in. The brunette stood there, looking at both of them with her mouth agape, brown eyes turned to complete shock. It only took another moment for her to drop the box that held the cake she’d been carrying, feeling like she could no longer breathe. “No.” Allison mumbled quietly, her voice sounding completely lost, even though she’d only croaked out that one word. She quickly turned around and stormed out of the front door that she hadn’t yet closed after returning to her parental home. The young woman headed back out into the night, with darkness surrounding her and the only light guiding her was the brightness of the full moon shining down. Unlike her parents, she didn’t know that it was a full moon because she hadn’t grown up or been trained as a hunter - not like her father and mother. “Allison!” Chris called out, getting up from his seat to go after her, but Victoria grasped him by the wrist and shook her head. She was the one who had said the words, so she felt responsible. She needed to man up and retrieve Allison. “No, Chris. I’ll go.” she told him with a brief nod of her head. Allison had been heading towards the woods, with her mom catching up pretty quickly and calling after her. “Allison, wait! I can explain!” Victoria pleaded, moving through the endless amount of trees to get closer to Allison, who eventually stopped in her tracks and turned around to face her mom. “Then tell me what happened to Kate! Where is she?! Why isn’t she coming back?! You lied to me! You’re a liar!” Allison was crying at that point, both out of anger and sadness, not knowing which emotion was more dominant, but allowing herself to feel both.
Her mother opened her mouth to speak, but before she could produce any sound, a werewolf came out of nowhere and attacked the woman. Allison gasped loudly and stumbled back against a tree, accidentally lowering herself against it and feeling unable to get up. “Mom!” the brown haired girl call out, absolutely mortified by the sight in front of her. The werewolf was attacking her mother and slaughtering her, even dragging her away after a little while. Her mother was screaming at first, but then she stopped making sounds and Allison feared the worst. “Mom?! Say something! I’m coming to get you!” she managed to push herself up on her feet by using the tree for support, telling herself to man up and be brave because this was her mother and she’d gotten attacked because of something that Allison herself had done. She was responsible for this, so she needed to be the one to fix it. The brunette started to move into the direction of her mother and the werewolf, but before she could get even remotely close, her uncle Alaric was there, right in front of her. Why was he out here at this hour? “Allison? What are you doing out here?” he looked extremely concerned, wiping some tears from her face, but they just kept coming. “What’s going on? I was heading home from the Grill and then I heard you and your mom scream.” Alaric looked the girl over before his gaze darted around to see if there was any sign of his sister nearby, but she wasn’t in sight. “Where’s your mom?” he questioned, his eyes more frantically searching for Victoria now because panic and fear was creeping up on him and it was all over his face. “She’s gone. I killed her.” Allison commented lifelessly. The screaming had stopped, the werewolf was gone. It was over. It was all over and it was her fault. “I’m taking you home.”
Katherine could literally be anywhere in the world thanks to her immortality, but the weekend was kicking off today and she found herself wanting to go to the beach. It was sunny out and it was a nice, spring day, so why not? She’d just gotten back from spending time in Las Vegas where it was all gambling and nightlife and now the vampire wanted to change things up. She loved being free, but in the back of her mind, she knew she was still running. Those hunters that had killed her family were long dead and she knew that, but the hunting trait tended to be passed down within hunting families. Because of this, Katherine was pretty sure that the children, grandchildren and further descendants of those hunters were probably still after her. They’d already taken her family from her and it had changed and angered her once she’d become immortal, but she’d be damned if she’d let them kill her too. No, she was a survivalist - a supreme survivalist and no one was taking that away from her now. Chesapeake beach was gorgeous, a place she’d never visited before, but being here now didn’t make her feel like she regretted it - not at all. Katherine had spent the entire afternoon tanning, swimming and just allowing herself to have a good time - while still watching her back, of course. That was something that would never end. The brown haired girl had gotten up when she noticed the sun was setting rapidly, gathering her things and taking them back to her car that she’d parked further down. It had been so crowded when she’d arrived that she had to park her car away from the beach, so it was a short walk, but Katherine didn’t mind that. Upon reaching the vehicle, she started tossing her beach towel, sunglasses and other beach things in the trunk before closing it. But it was then that her enhanced hearing picked up on some sounds nearby. Katherine’s eyebrows came together in confusion as she listened in on the noises. Everyone who had been at the beach to enjoy the sunny weather was already gone, she’d seen people leave and she knew she was the only one left in the vicinity. Well, not anymore, obviously. Rounding the car slowly, her chocolate colored eyes searched for the person in question, wondering who it was and what exactly was happening down by the water.
London wasn’t so bad during summer. In fact, there wasn’t as much rain as usual, making it a good time to visit. Katherine had already seen many places ever since she’d become a vampire and now, England was getting its turn. The world was big and the brunette planned to go to as many countries as she possibly could. She finally felt liberated because now, she had the power to do whatever she wanted. She could compel people into doing what she wanted and that way, she could get what she wanted - always. It was fun to mess with others, especially if Katherine herself got something out of it. The brown haired female had been in London for about a day, exploring the city and having a good time. But doing that all by herself wasn’t always fun and there were times when she wished she had a companion. But it had to be a companion who was just like her when it came to personality and views on life. She preferred vampires because most other species wanted to be and do good and Katherine would never be and do good herself. The vampire knew that she couldn’t possibly travel with someone who would try to change her or someone who would just annoy the living daylights out of her. No, she needed somebody whose definition of fun matched her own. As she walked through the streets, the brunette looked around, her personal assistant walking beside her and carrying the various shopping bags. There was no way that she’d carry all of that herself, so she’d compelled a random woman to do it for her and they were now on their way back to the hotel that she was staying at for the time being. Katherine wasn’t paying much attention to the compelled female who paced beside her, not until she noticed that the woman was no longer next to her and her ears detected a loud thud. Stopping in her tracks, Katherine turned around, only to see that her compelled victim had bumped into a man, dropping some of the bags in the process. Her feet soon dragged her over to the two, intending to scold the female for dropping the bags - but then she spotted the other person, which made the dropped bags kind of irrelevant. “Florence, be careful. You almost knocked this handsome man over.”
The young werewolf had been in her current form for over a decade by now and she’d grown accustomed to that years ago. The woods were her home now and this was her territory. This was the one place she felt very protective of because it was a sanctuary for Malia. This was where she’d run to after she’d killed her mother, when she’d gotten cursed to live in her werewolf form. She didn’t know where else to go anymore now and it wasn’t like she could tell anybody that she was Malia. How would any of her friends know that this was her? They all thought she was missing and after almost eleven years, they probably thought that she was dead. She assumed they had all given up on searching for and trying to find her a long time ago and she didn’t blame any of them for it. The werewolf had missed out on so many things because of what had happened to her - she never made it to high school, prom, graduation or college. She’d been completely cut off from modern day life and had been living her life as a wild animal for many years to come. Malia was chasing a deer, hunting the creature because she’d grown hungry. It was something she’d had to do the second her life changed and at first, it was difficult for her to even catch any animal, but she’d gradually gotten better at it. The werewolf observed the deer carefully, intending to corner it soon, but she just needed the timing to be right. If she made that one mistake, she might lose her dinner.
