A Beautiful New Timbre With Something Special for Everyone
For all of you who haven’t heard, we’ve been busy making Timbre better! That’s right, we’ve spent the past few months building the features you have asked for and giving Timbre a bit of a makeover. For those of you who love our minimal design aesthetic, don’t fret! We’ve still got the same, simple UI, but now Timbre has a lot more to offer.
We know our users are drawn to Timbre for different reasons. So here’s a breakdown of the new features:
A feature for us all:
One of the most useful new features we’ve included in this version of Timbre is the ability to star shows. A starred show means you’ve bookmarked a concert that you don’t want to miss. You’ll be able to access a list of all your starred shows through the menu. Plus, you can see all your friends’ starred shows, too.
For the social butterfly:
You asked for social media integration - you got it! You can now connect with Facebook and see see what shows your friends are excited about by checking out their Starred Shows list. And for those of you who’d rather not connect to Facebook, you can still continue using the app without connecting. But trust us, since it displays who else is interested, it’ll be a lot easier to make plans with friends!
For the design-lover:
We’ve retained our minimal aesthetic, and we’ve introduced beautiful parallax scrolling. A click on the hamburger menu reveals the Starred shows and your Facebook friends’ starred selections; a quick swipe through these lists and you’ll see that the parallax pairs beautifully with the album art. Pretty fancy, huh?
For the Spotify Premium user:
Wishing you could listen to the whole song instead of a short 30-second preview? Well now, Spotify Premium users are able to do just that. BOOM! Hear the complete track and enjoy the artist’s work in its full glory.
For the directionally-challenged:
We’ll be honest, some of us on staff still swear by GPS to get us to shows. Luckily, venue maps and directions are now built in! The “Map” button offers a preview of where the venue is located, with the option of opening the destination in the Maps app. Live music is now just a tap away!
That’s a quick overview of some of the new goodies included in Timbre’s latest update. Of course, there are a few other hidden gems, like the ability to set a “Home Location” so Timbre can bring you more relevant content. Go download the latest version of Timbre and let us know what you think - we love hearing back from you. After all, who knows, maybe your suggestion could be the next big feature!

Parallax Scrolling
Found a few examples of parallax scrolling around the web:

Notice how the background elements move at a different rate to your scroll rate? This creates a false sense of depth which is kind'a cool. This site also has a lot of content on one page, so because of that - It's a good idea to make it playful.

This ones a little more simple, the entire background is moving at a slower rate to the body content.
