Headcanon: its easy to judge when Paranormal!James is going to go nuts, because he becomes very very quiet before losing it. If someone shows up with that Special Smell, nothing else matters to him besides that meal. Bonus points if he goes silent mid sentence. "I'll have a Crunchwrap supreme and.... Hanger will have two chicken soft tacos and a large diet Coke," Nick says from across the hotel room.

"Thanks," Adam says, even though sometimes he really wishes Nick would let him order for himself. It was endearing the first ten times. After a hundred, it felt demoralizing. Kenny just nods and punches in their order on his phone, letting the boys practice without interruption.

Not that Nick was practicing, really. He was just sitting there, meditating, helping his brain relax while the future flowed in and out of his brain. Adam doesn't envy him. At least, Adam can turn off his magic when he wants, only getting the stray electric tingle of some old magic clinging to places. With Nick, he's had to train himself to control the ebb and flow of the future, like a river being tamed down into a steady trickle.

It's not like things are easier for Matt, but at least Adam can somewhat understand his practice. Matt currently sits in one of the chairs, hair down around his shoulders with a few locks in his face, eyes focused on the plethora of cards that laid before him, holding a crystal on a silver chain above them. Adam doesn't comment on the tarot cards being Lisa Frank themed.

"Hanger, you should stock up on cardamom," Matt says out of nowhere, the crystal pointing at a complete ninety degree angle, right to Adam. He lifts his brows and then turns, grabbing his phone.

"Thanks, man. There gonna be a shortage or something?" Hangman asks, and Matt shakes his head.

"No, you'll need to stock up for healing spells. Apparently, one of us is going to take a nasty tumble tonight. I guess this means we're crashing at your place," Matt sighs.

"Don't act like that's a bad thing. I like Adam's place," Kenny says chipperly.

"You would," Nick hums, eyes still closed, body so still that even the chain between his septum piercing and earring doesn't move an inch.

"Fae like witch territory. Especially Adam's - you've got the best property. So many laylines," Kenny says, not for the first time. And when he smiles, his eyes glint, and Hangman can't help but to smile back.

"Gonna have to rebuild your mushroom rings. Had to do a harvest," Hangman says.

"No he didn't," Matt says, "he picked them because he wanted an excuse for you to come back."

Adam looks over at Matt with wide eyes, then grabs one of the obsidian rocks out of one of the pouches he was filling and tosses it at Matt. Matt ducks long before the rock gets to him.

"Stop usin' the cards to start drama," Kenny scolds Matt fondly, and Matt, laughing, blows a kiss over to Adam. Adam swipes it out of the air and puts it in one of the pouches to keep for later, when Matt inevitably gets under his skin and Adam wants to brat tame him. Brat kisses always worked the best.

Kenny looks over at Adam, and the witch can feel it. Fae always felt sharper, like instead of holding his hand in front of a TV screen and getting a gentle tingle, he put a wet plug into an outlet. It took some time to get used to Kenny's aura.

Now, Adam feels kind of unsettled without it.

Hangman lifts his eyes to meet Kenny's, and his partner smiles.

"You know you don't have to lure me back," Kenny says softly. Adam shrugs.

"Sometimes it's nice to be sure."

"Could always talk to Nick," Matt points out. "...Who shouldn't use the hot sauce that comes with his crunch wrap. You're going to stain your shirt."

"This is my favorite shirt," Nick mutters, and he pouts. Matt lifts his head, pauses, then says,

"It's not changing- are you seriously going to stain your shirt just so you can use that mid-tier hot sauce?"

Nick smiles, opening his eyes and letting his hands drop from his knees.

"Sure am, baby bro."

@just-some-dumb-thoughts I know we discussed that crosses work on some vampires, depending on the type but I got to thinking today. I could imagine that vamps can potentially be affected by other religious symbols as well; the religion and symbol doesn't matter as long as its considered holy/sacred.
