My 7 year old son's favourite cartoon is Daria. I feel like my work here is done
I am THE coolest mom ever to mother (according to my child).
I'm sure it's nothing to do with the Ghost Skeletour tickets.
I've seen a lot of "there's no such thing as a bad book for kids" chat over the last few days, so I feel the need to mention that my 5yo just went to my bookshelf and asked to look at Gideon the Ninth... 😂
Obviously I said yes. His reading is coming along; he could read "Alecto" from the inside cover. But he gave up before actually reading a word of the book.
I first read Gideon when he was 2. He could say "Gideon the Ninth" when the only kids TV he'd watched was Bagpuss.
When I was reading Harrow and my other half was reading Gideon, then-2yo started to look at it on my bedside table, and I jokingly said "spoilers! You have to read Gideon first!" And he duly put it down and toddled around to the other side of the bed to get Gideon.
These are among my clearest and fondest memories. (I was/am very sleep-deprived)
Oh, also he sometimes calls Harrow "Harrogate" instead of Harrowhark 😂
Husband: You should watch this movie (The Mitchells vs the Machines), it was good, you'd probably like it
13 yo: I've already seen it! You know I spend a lot of time alone in my room, I can't be reading fanfiction all the time! Sometimes it doesn't get updated!
9 yr old daughter: Everyone loves the raisin.
Me: How can you not love the raisin?
My 9 year old, who has struggled to read due to a super cool combo of dyslexia and self-doubt, has chosen to stay up late with a head lamp and read an extra chapter of his book 🥹
Can you practice singing Happy Birthday to me?
We were getting to my son’s birthday. The countdown was well and truly on. He was counting down to his birthday and also counting down to his birthday month. He had a birthday list of presents as long as his arm. He kept asking about it, over and over again. “How many days until my birthday?”“How many days until my birthday month?”“Is my birthday on a special day?”“Is my birthday the next…
