All shall be well 🩸 ⭐Comms Waitlist⭐
It took a month and change to get here due to a mis-shipping adventure, but the box of props from Claudia’s TdV dressing table and Sam’s TdV dressing table that I got in the most recent auction finally got here yesterday. Some highlights (it’s half Claudia stuff, some of which is going to a few friends of mine; half Sam Barclay stuff, which is staying with me to join his wristwatch since I acquired that in a previous auction).
First, a general early-on unpacking shot since Zel got excited when I told her it was from Vampire Show and that Santiago might have touched some of these items:
The tasseled cloth and decanter are from Sam’s dressing table, clearly visible in this photo (closeup included) of his space:
Further shots of the small handful of Sam’s items and where they’re visible in behind-the-scenes photos:
So, next come the photos of Claudia’s items. I know they’re Claudia’s because the auction lot description labeled them as such; unfortunately, though, we don’t have behind-the-scenes photos or onscreen shots that pan by Claudia’s dressing table, so I can’t do quite the same visual match-ups. I need to do a separate post of photos later today or tomorrow solely covering the Josephine Baker posters, because they’re extremely charming in their own right. In the meantime, here’s a sampling:
When I make a second post with the posters and some of the other items in the above shot of Claudia’s stuff in more detail, I also need to cover the books that came in this lot, which are actually the most exciting thing about it. They’re not blank/fake books like were included in some lots; they’re volumes dating between about 1946 and 1961, and I believe they were on the shelves near the ceiling above Sam’s dressing table that are visible briefly when the camera pans around the green room space. A couple of them are valuable for their bindings and their contents, and I actually can’t believe they were just tossed in with the rest of this stuff. More on that in the next post!
IWTV Tarot Card Project
Hello fellow fledglings 🖤
Before anything else, thank you for the love you’ve shown the Blood-Drinker’s Draw: An Interview with the Vampire Fan Tarot Deck. For those who may be unfamiliar, this is a collaborative deck created by seventy fan artists and writers, and the result is truly one of a kind. We needed a trailer that could do it justice, and it’s almost ready!
In the meantime, we wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes look at how the Kickstarter trailer came together.
This trailer was the result of a layered, collaborative process.
It began with Effie November, our project lead, sketching out a rough concept. From there, the mod team iterated on storyboards until we landed on something that felt both ambitious and achievable within our timeframe.
One of our goals was for viewers to feel as though they had stepped directly into 1132 Rue Royale. That meant a deep dive into research: furniture, textiles, materials, down to the wallpaper and floor panels pulled from screenshots wherever possible, expanded upon through historical reference hunting.
The trailer's art pillars help us define the visual and material rules for props and furnishings, establishing how detail, shape language, surface treatment, and lighting should work together to support a Gothic New Orleans parlor mood without drifting into hyper-realism or visual noise. It serves as a decision-making reference for artists, clarifying what belongs in the world (soft curves, warm metals, gently used luxury) and what to avoid, ensuring consistency, readability in low light, and a cohesive cinematic atmosphere across all assets. Time and resources also factored into decisions like level of detail, as there were primarily only two artists working on the trailer and a limited production window.
From there, the props and environment were built in stages: grey-box, camera layout, lighting passes, polished environment art (all in Blender), and finally VFX to bring it all together.
We were incredibly lucky when Bean, @yourfavoritesoybean, a freelance 2D and 3D artist/animator, graciously volunteered to help. Their work brought the trailer to life by modeling and animating the tarot product assets designed by @plotmonster, along with the beautifully ornate table, candle, and goblet of blood. These elements created the stage that allowed the deck itself to shine.
A final render of the opening shot. You have just received a very special delivery! A few more shout-outs:
@irisbleufic, for polish and editorial support on the trailer copy ✨
@plotmonster, for the gorgeous project title design 🎉
Effie November, for the perfect music selection 🎶
It’s been a joy to share this process with you. More information on the Kickstarter campaign will be coming soon 🖤
funny how daniel is constantly doing the same in dubai
talamasca info gets questioned? 'sooo claudia was keeping a diary in direct violation of the great laws' every time armand looks at him funny he just blurts out something about claudia because it'll unfailingly get louis' attention
CLAUDIA - There's Nothing Left for You
girl who would've done numbers in the theatre des vampires
Yk after 78 chapters, I thought to myself pretty confidently that the san francisco argument wouldn’t happen, characters are so different from the show, and if it did happen the wording and shit would be different.
Imagine me being sniped completely by Louis calling Armand (and his coven) boring and dull
ugh Lestat warning the coven that Claudia is stronger than they imagine while giving Armand the dirtiest possible looks is something that I fear I will never recover from. I want to see so much more of Claudia and Lestats relationship in season 3.
