BREAKING: PARIS, FRANCE (24X7 NEWS) UPDATED: 5 French Police officers stabbed outside Paris Police Headquarters - reports say the assailant stabbed to death a female officer with a ceramic knife and injured at least five others before being shot dead by her colleague. Assailant's motives remain unclear. EARLIER REPORT: Police union officials said, at least four police officers have been killed on Thursday after an employee at a Paris police headquarters in the French capital attacked officers with a knife before being shot to death. Spokesperson for the French police union, Christophe Crépin said the assailant entered the headquarters around 1 p.m. local time (7 a.m. ET). Crépin added, it is unclear how far inside the headquarters he managed to get before he attacked the officers. It is not yet known what sparked the attack. Reuters reported that France's interior minister and the Paris prosecutor were on their way to the scene. The popular tourist area was cordoned off in the wake of the attack and the local metro station shut down. French media reported that a staff member carried out the attack with a ceramic knife in a part of the prefecture that is not open to the public.
