Headcanons For My OT3! (Parkingsmith - Dead By Daylight)
I’ve never had an OT3 before and this I never understood OT3s as a concept. Then this just naturally happened and while I was initially confused I very quickly came to realize how much I liked the idea of it.
Honestly I’m scared and shamed for even enjoying this though honestly there is no reason to feel that way. Guess it’s just my reflexive nature to try to tear myself down when something makes me happy.
Sidenote if you know a better name than Parkingsmith let me know! I suck at naming ships. x.x
1. Quentin - bisexual, panromantic.
Steve - bisexual, aromantic
Jake - Asexual, panromantic
2. Quentin loves Jake because of how grounding and calm he is. Jake is a pillar of stability and strength. No matter how shaken up he gets, no matter how terrifying or upsetting things are some soft words and a strong embrace from Jake can calm him down once more.
3. Quentin if asked doesn’t know why he loves Steve, he never realized he loves Steve. There is just something about Harrington that pushes away the darkness, an endless light that helps lighten the load he feels in this darkness. It doesn’t help that Steve is ridiculously good looking, and there is something extra charming to him when he’s a bit of a dork or puts his foot in his mouth and panics.
4. Steve loves Quentin because...he doesn’t know why. Not in any way that can be put into words. He doesn’t know why he loves Jake either. Honestly he doesn’t get romance and cannot process his own emotions well. At first it was cause Quentin is well...who doesn’t love the look of a good swimmer? And Jake totally has that man of the woods look. Both exceptionally choice looks for what Steve likes.
5. The more time he spent around Quentin the more he just found himself attached to the guy. He doesn’t know how to put it into words. He just doesn’t but it went from ‘oh wow he’s hot’ to ‘oh wow I love him’.
6. Jake’s a little easier to understand...kinda. When Steve is being ‘a bit much’ as some would say Jake pulls him back to Earth. When Steve is fronting or being a dick Jake cuts right through it. He doesn’t talk down to Steve though, it’s different than others who have done it to him in the past. He can tell there is concern and care in the tone Jake uses even if the words can be harsh.
7. Given his track record before the Mist Steve doesn’t understand how he got lucky enough to find someone that loves him let alone two people.
8. Steve doesn’t believe he deserves what he has.
9. Steve is also eternally touch starved. He can cuddle with one or both for hours and the moment he’s alone some subconscious fear of losing them or that they figured out that he isn’t worth their time has him desperately wanting to be in any kind of physical contact with either of them. Though he works hard to try to control that urge as he doesn’t want to seem clingy or needy and screw things up.
10. Whenever it’s just two of them laying down together Steve is always little spoon. If the three of them lay down together Steve is always middle spoon so he can snuggle in and enjoy maximum contact.
11. When Quentin tries to sleep, one of the other two watch over him and Quentin be restless till he can get into some position where he can hold them like a teddy bear.
12. If Freddy hasn’t been too badly lately and it’s Steve’s turn to watch over the sleeping Quentin the moment Quentin applies his teddy bear hold on Harrington Steve is out like a light.
13. If Freddy has been rough recently though Steve can stay awake and vigilant like a hawk for up to thirty hours if he needs to. Hyper focused on Quentin looking for any sign of distress or problem, even if it’s only shown by the tiniest tremors under the skin.
14. When it’s Jake’s turn to watch over Quentin he just gets Quentin into the position his sleepy guy needs to fall asleep quickly then just uses the time to think over recent developments in the Mist or talk quietly with others. If Quentin locks in his teddy bear hold he’s not waking up unless Freddy comes or he actually gets enough sleep, soft whispering won’t bother him.
15. When it’s Steve’s turn to watch over Quentin Jake will check to see if Steve has fallen asleep before he himself would go to bed. If Steve has Jake just quietly sits on the other side of Steve to help Harrington feel more comfy and keeps an eye on Quentin.
16. Jake loves Quentin because Quentin feels like a kindred spirit. Apparently being tormented by Freddy for so long has Quentin not caring about the frivolous crap that Jake doesn’t care about. Jake finds he can open up to Quentin and even if Quentin doesn’t fully get it, he always feels that Quentin gets him. An emotional connection started forming and before he knew it Jake is where he is now.
17. At first Steve and Jake were kind of like oil and water. Steve just screamed to be everything Jake’s parents wanted Jake to be. As time went on though Steve seemed to mellow, or maybe Jake mellowed. As he got to know the real Steve he found himself drawn to the one thing he was missing in the woods though he’d never say it out loud. Steve has a level of almost hyperactive joy and light in him that is always there even when Steve’s at his darkest, moodiest, or most hopeless. Jake honestly doesn’t have that, and he thought he didn’t need it. Peace and serenity were enough. It’s amazing how much you miss connecting to those types of feelings, how much you didn’t realize you needed them in your life till you’ve gone without then find it once more.
18. While Quentin and Steve can at times get very physically intense that’s not really Jake’s cup of tea. It’s not that they are guys, or not physically good looking he’s just not into that. Something the other two respect a great deal, even going so far as to try to avoid the more intimate activities around Jake, or at least checking if Jake would be uncomfortable if they proceeded while he was with them.
19. Not that Jake doesn’t partake once in a while to help give one of his guys that little extra bit of attention and happiness. This is an exceptionally, exceptionally rare event though.
19. Jake is very into hugging, kissing and holding. Of the three he’s the most comfortable with engaging in public displays of affection.
20. While Steve gets both a little embarrassed and a lot giddy when he receives a random hug, spooning or smooch from one of his guys.
That’s all I’ve got at the moment, though to be fair it’s only been a couple of days. Maybe I’ll share more in the future.
