Parley in parliament

Today we will look into the word "parler"

What? it does not sound like an English word? Yes, but people who speak French knows what I am talking about! I know what you think, but you are right, this is not English but borrowed from French which means "to speak / to talk".

Now we will see a couple of English words derived from "parler" Parliament - You guess now? group of people assemble to discuss about the laws and issues.

Parley - Formal discussion between enemies or opponents so as to come to an agreement.

Parlor OR Parlour - You know this word right? "Beauty Parlor" - a place to relax and have chat with friends and acquaintance.

Parlance - Refer to the jargon or slang a certain group or industry uses. Example: you go to Chennai (India) and you see a section of people in a particular place speaks "Madras Slang"
