these are all the same person. CHANGE MY MIND
wait actually, sick and twisted au where parse is actually british and he got his nickname because his juniors teammates (jack included) were mocking how he called "pass" across the ice
What is a parseling? That post had grabbed me, and id like to learn more.
It’s a concept from a ttrpg called Parselings. It’s set in modern day, with these ink-like parasites called parsecytes that take a host through blood contact. Once it’s in your body, you become branded with tattoos of words based on how you’re seen by yourself and others. When they make skin contact, there’s a moment of them sharing thoughts through the parsecytes inside them and they can combine their words to warp reality.
For example a guy who refuses to talk to people might get “Cold” and a girl who takes on everyone else’s burdens might get “Shoulder”. They could combine these words to make the parse Cold//Shoulder and do anything from freeze someone’s joints in place to force someone to ignore their friends.
There’s a lot more to parselings as a people and as a setting. Such as losing your coherency (your grip on yourself as a nuanced being) causing you to become an Incoherent. A monster driven to both consume and become the only existing source of its own word.
It’s a really cool and honestly erotic concept.
sorry not sorry
