"In a world full of temporary things, you are a perpetual feeling."
Ruin plagued every major city on Earth. The efforts to stop the Invincible variants did nothing, their strength far superior to any resource or hero that could be found on the planet. And yet, the only one that could do something about it — and the main reason they had been sent here, did not appear yet. The different variants regrouped above the equivalent of their house, soon to notice how many of them were missing. Sinister had become bored of this invasion and of obeying Angstrom’s orders already. He wanted to move on to different universes, with enemies that would hopefully be more worth his time. As he was about to stop the masked Invincible from speaking, a flicker of pink interrupted the conversation. Masked — or his head, collapsed against the ground with a wet thud. His body followed suit, the rest of them witnesses, unable or unwilling to intervene. The reactions differed. The initial shock was shared. The weaker ones immediately fled whilst some threw curses at the air or clenched their fists. Others got excited at the prospect of a challenge. Sinister fell into the last category, intrigued by how someone from Earth could smite a viltrumite with such ease. In retrospect, the color of the flash should have given the identity of the culprit away. While the rest argued with each other, he turned around following the direction of the projectile. His crossed arms didn’t move an inch, the yellow cape following the movement. Eve. She stood a few feet away from them, floating above the ground as well. Her outfit didn’t resemble this world’s Atom Eve’s at all. Neither did the expression she wore. A variant, just like them. Annoyance rose within Sinister. Angstrom. Of course. That worm would dare betray his word, he should have killed him — nevermind. He would have plenty of time to deal with him. For now, he had far more important matters to focus on. His stare zeroed in on her as he tilted his head. Dissecting. Analyzing. Studying her. In the blink of an eye, he flew to stand before her. He wanted a chance to get acquainted with her alone before the rest of his team stopped bickering. She wouldn’t last much once that happened. “... I don’t remember you ever saying hi.”
