hello everyone, I know this isn't my normal kind of post but I'm trying to share this as far as I can go, but this is our 9-week-old puppy, sky, and she has just been diagnosed with parvo. this news has devastated our family, but we swore we would fight like hell to make sure that she pulls through. however, the emergency vet bill has taken most of our funds, and we could use the help to gather supplies for her throughout these next few crucial weeks, things like pedialyte, puppy pads, chicken-flavored baby food, and drinking water! we just want the best for her, so we can see to it that she gets that love and care she needs and deserves during these next few rough weeks ahead of us. thank you so much for taking your time and reading this, anything helps, even if it's just five dollars!!

A friendly tip regarding Parvovirus:

For those in vet med, if you hear the presenting complaint involves a litter of pups or any young unvaccinated dog with diarrhea, ask if they are also vomiting. If so keep the patient(s) in the car and Parvo test before ever having them inside. This prevents A LOT of cleaning. And you can bring the patient directly where it may stay for hospitalization or keep it at the car for work up and treatment if attempting at home care.

For those not in vet med, please let your vet staff know if your pet is having not only diarrhea but also vomiting and the vaccination status of you pet. Especially if they are a young puppy.

Hi, my coworker Natalie had her puppy Nala at our emergency vet for an aggressive case of parvovirus in June that resulted in a week of intensive care and hospitalization. On top of working multiple jobs, having student loans and going to school, having car insurance and a loan to pay, she also has an absent mother, an unexpected living situation change, and shes still trying to take care of her brother that lives with her dad as well. Shes genuinely such a sweet person, she deserves some support. Even with our employee discount on a $10,000 bill, it still came to around $8400, of which about $7900 is left to pay by December 1st or it goes to collections.

She and Nala would definitely appreciate any reblogs and shares on other SM or any small amount you can donate since everything does help.

Az ötödik te magad légy

Hat napja kezdődött, nem is, igaziból 7. Egy hete, rokonokkal voltam Amsterdamban, a Vermeer kiállításon, és délután, mikor hazajöttem, az energiaszintem zéró volt, az agyam alig fogott valamit. A keddi óráimra kellett készülni, de nagyon nehezen ment.

Kedden délben már rázott a hideg, agyaltam azon, hogy a 2 kurzusom között az ebédszünetben hol igyak egy jó zabtejes kapucsínót, és beugrott, hogy otthon, egy takaró alatt lenne a legjobb, és ezen úgy meglepődtem, hogy írtam a kollegámnak, hogy beteg vagyok, hazamentem. Bebújtam ágyba, aludtam, és jó volt.

Szerdán tök jól voltam, aztán estére megint nem, és csütörtök-péntek egész nap lázas voltam és fájtak az izmaim, izületeim. Influenzának gyanús volt, hogy semmi takonykór, de hát mi más lehet? Beteget jelentettem, netflixeztem meg beleájultam a lázba. Szombat óta jobban vagyok, de vasárnap kijöttek rajtam kiütések a testemen mindenfelé (a fejemen még nem), meg fájnak az izületeim. Na akkor állt össze a kép: a kisebbik mesélte, hogy az egyik osztálytársának 5. betegsége van. Ez egy humán parvovírus fertőzés, itt gyakori gyerekbetegség (az 5. a gyakorisági listán). Egyszer lehet csak elkapni, nekem ez úgy látszik eddig kimaradt. Hát most bepótoltam.

Az izületi rész elmúlhatna gyorsabban, mint 3 hét, az nagyon nem vicces. A kiütések alig viszketnek, meg amíg nem a fejemen vannak, elviselhető a dolog. Ja és ilyenkor már nem fertőz az illető, tehát mehetnék már dolgozni, ha nem lenne kényelmetlen minden egyes testhelyzet: se ülni, se állni, se feküdni sem jó.

Ps: Eddig azt hittem, hogy a parvó az kutyák betegsége, de mindig van mit tanulni…

To anyone out there reading this: obviously helping a REAL sick dog is a good thing, but always check when you get a message out of the blue from a new blog. Google the images etc. Demand proof!
