'they said you were the crooked kind, that you would never have no worth but you were always gold to me.' techno remembering how phil was pictured, as the angel of death 'back when we were kids, we swore we knew the future and our words would take us halfway round the world.' i guess more reminiscing idk 'but i never left this town and you never saw new york and we aint ever crossed the sea.' this doesn't exactly make sense, but it could reference how techno has now set down roots with wil in the kingdom, and while phil left, he never got very far without thinking of home 'but i am fine with where i am now, this home is home and all that i need but for you this place is shame and you can blame me when there's no one left to blame, i don't mind.' when they're facing the green god and techno has realized he's mortal finally. he knows phil will never be able to rest if they banish dream, because he worries he'll come back, so this is techno telling phil that he'll take care of wilbur and tommy's memory, and he'll be there for wil because phil can't 'all my life ive never known where you've been. there were holes in you the kind that i could not mend.' techno realizing he doesn't know as much about phil as he thought, but he still wishes he could've prevented everything 'and i heard you say, right when you left that day, does everything go away? yeah everything goes away.' right before phil leaves through the portal with dream, when they're saying their goodbyes 'but i'm gonna be here til forever so just call when you're around.' even though techno will die, even though his body will decay like any mortal, he will always be apart of the history of the kingdom, and if a man with a face like the kings of old appears one day, far into the future, and stoops by the graves of the old king, prince and general, well, techno won't be surprised
