I love your art so much, your take on beloved asoiaf characters inspires me so much!! how do you go about designing clothes for them?
Thank you so much! That's so kind of you to say! 💖✨
This is a tough question because I don't really have a tried and true method for designing clothes. With asoiaf (and any european-inspired fantasy series really) I tend to look for inspiration in historical paintings and fairytale illustrations of the late 19th/early 20th century. I also really enjoy and try to incorporate the aesthetics of fantasy/fairytale films of the 1970s-90s
Plus there are just my own interpretation of certain characters based on their individual personalities/backgrounds. For example, even though I'm pretty sure it's not stated anywhere in the books, I like to give Cersei large headdresses that invokes a sense of wealth and grandiosity and I like to draw Catelyn in gowns with long, smooth blue sleeves that can look a bit like rivers. Little things like that.
I hope this helps! 😅
