I like to believe he got the personal trainer out of a belief that at SOME point Hook was gonna be shirtless with Emma. MORE FOOL ALL OF US, apparently.

That was my original headcanon! I thought for sure he was prepping for a shirtless scene with the Savior. Alas! A&E are not as in tune with their audience as Christina Perri!

I love my shipmates

My favorite part about last night’s episode was watching it with shipmates in person. It was the best. And I feel like we need some sort of group name. Like “The Not-So-Dirty-Half-Dozen” or something. And t-shirts. Or membership cards. Anyway, thank you mryddinwilt, thisisevenharderthannamingablog, zengoalie, passing-fanciful, and wingedlioness for making the whole experience fun and bearable. I look forward to more shenanigans with you all! Maybe we can go appropriate a ship and see how seaworthy we are! LOL! Here’s to getting together again soon because

Oh, I get those sometimes, and SQ ones too. I don’t think their algorithm is refined enough LOL It’s the same on Facebook, where they like to recommend the rival football team to me because I “liked” MY football team on there...

You’re very kind, thank you! I’m sorry that you’re having to deal with that kind of thing as well. I’ve dealt with him, for myself, so at least it doesn’t upset me anymore. It’s just SUCH a nuisance that I don’t need. But yes, thank you, hugs and cookies to you as well!! <3

I followed you because when I was lurking around the edges of OUAT fandom, trying to decide whether to dip my toe in, I read your metas and they were great and gave me a lot of thinky thoughts, and I was like, right on, I wish to be exposed to that on a regular basis.

I keep trying to formulate a proper response but it basically boils down to a bunch of heart emoticons every time

So a little birdie mentioned that today’s passing-fanciful​‘s birthday, so here’s a thing for you. Happy birthday!

            “Really, Ruby?”

            “It’ll be fun, you have to come.”

            “I have work.”

            “Then come after work! Come on, Em, it’s a Saturday night, it’s a chance to spend time with friends you haven’t seen in—”

            “Days, I saw you two days ago, I live with Elsa—”

            “You don’t have to dress up.”

            “Who even has a costume party in April?”

            “Why are you being such a spoilsport about this? There will be food and alcohol and people, stop by after your shift and if it’s really that awful for you then you can leave and I won’t give you crap for it.”

            (Unlikely.)

            But Emma finds herself sighing anyway.

            “Okay, fine. Ten minutes. I’ll stay for ten minutes and then—”

            “See you tonight!”

            And it’s completely ridiculous—a costume party for absolutely no occasion at all, just an excuse to dress up and get drunk—get through whatever was left over from St. Patrick’s Day.

            She walks into Ruby and Mary Margaret’s apartment, still in her clothes from her shift at the bar, and is greeted by David—Prince Charming, it would seem—and Robin—who had decided to dress up as his namesake, clutching a bow that appears to have been made out of PVC pipe and string.

            “Emma!” David cheers, sweeping her up in a hug. She smirks.

            “Having a good time, David?” she asks.

            “I’m so glad you’re here,” he says seriously, hands braced on her shoulders. “I know you’ve been having a hard time and I really—I really want you to have a good time. I really want to make sure you’re okay, Emma, because you’re my sister and I love you.”

            And it’s sweet, really, even if he’s having trouble focusing (and who’s let him get this drunk?) and she’s about to respond gently (and tell him to go find some water or maybe coffee) when Rob takes him by the arm and shoots Emma an apologetic you know how he gets look, leading him away to (hopefully) find something to sober up.

            She sees Elsa next—dressed as some sort of princess—and then Kris, who appears to be a lumberjack—with Mary Margaret as Snow White rounding out the group in the kitchen—to match David, of course. (They’re so sickeningly sweet together; she never would’ve imagined she’d be friends with a couple like them but she can’t help watching them and feeling a twinge of something like longing course through her—longing for something like what they have, because what they have is at least ten times better and healthier than anything she’s ever seen.)

            (Other times she wants to strangle them for setting the bar so damned high.)

            “Emma! You came!” Elsa greets, also hugging her. She still appears to be clear headed, and Emma decides to follow her example, snagging a beer from the fridge before going to find Ruby. Figures she’ll say hello, greet a few other people, and then bail. It’s late and she’s tired and there’s something about serving alcohol all night that makes her less inclined to drinking it herself, especially when she gets off and still smells like tequila.

            “And just what are you supposed to be?” comes a voice to her right. She turns and is faced with a guy she’s never met—English accent, eyeliner, clearly going for pirate, smirking as he makes a show of looking her up and down.

            “Not doing the costume thing, Jack Sparrow.”

            “That’s Captain Jack Sparrow to you, lass.”

            She rolls her eyes.

            “Sorry, Captain.”

            His grin widens as he sways closer.

            “Not feeling the holiday spirit?” he asks.

            “What holiday?”

            “What holiday, Captain.”

            His eyes are sparkling (and Jesus they’re blue, and she should really not be talking to him still, he might get ideas and she might be less inclined to dissuade him the longer she talks to him).

            “I need to find Ruby,” she tells him, turning away. He follows her.

            “I believe she disappeared down the hall with Graham, was it? So many new faces to learn, new names. Such as yours.”

            “Smooth.”

            “I do my best.”

            “Well, I just stopped by to say hello, and I’ve said it, so I’ll be leaving now.”

            “But you just got here.”

            “Well spotted.” She finishes off her beer and hands him the empty bottle. “Have a good night, Jack.”

            “Captain Jack,” he responds automatically, and she smirks at him before walking off. “Killian, I mean, my name’s—I’m Killian,” he tells her, trailing after her to the door. She stops when she sees his outstretched hand, eyeing it but not taking it.

            “You a friend of Ruby’s?”

            “Will’s.”

            She doesn’t say anything and he lets his hand drop, scratching behind his ear, dipping his head slightly.

            “I apologize, if I somehow offended you, I just—”

            “Look, I really did just stop by to say hello. Nothing personal. Killian,” she adds. He nods.

            “Well, it was nice meeting you. Perhaps I’ll see you around?”

            She smiles.

            “Yeah, maybe.”

            He nods, the sudden shyness at odds with his costume, and she finds it endearing—finds she wants to stay, get to know this Killian person, the man beneath the guyliner and leather. (But that’s a bad idea, and she knows how this ends. Better to spare them both the trouble.)

            She smiles at him once more before opening the door, and maybe it’s the music, the sound of her friend’s laughter or her own exhaustion, or maybe it’s his blue eyes and the way he scratched behind his ear like a nervous tic, but she finds herself looking back at him once more (and he’s still there, and it makes something in her stomach flip).

            “Emma,” she tells him. “My name’s Emma. So you can add it to the list of new names to learn.”

            “Emma,” he repeats, smiling softly at her. She nods, suddenly awkward.

            “So. See you around,” she tells him.  

            “Have a good night, Emma.”

            “You too. Captain.”

            He grins, ducking his head, and she smiles.

            (And yeah. She’ll be seeing him again.)
