The thing people are forgetting is that, it's okay to feel sympathy for a villain for what happened to them in the past but that doesn't mean you have to think they deserve any semblance of good happening to them in the present. Cinder's done so much wrong that not even a sad backstory makes her redeemable and if you give it to her then you beg asking the question of "why couldn't they do the same for x or y?" when she's done so much worse than them.

He’s still a moron who was so stupid that he helped make Naofumi’s life miserable by being stupid enough to believe everything Bitch says until [Serpy cut this cuzz spoilers]. Lighthearted spinoffs won’t make up for that.
Tbh as far as I’m concerned he’s a Best from the very first scene he’s in and the fact that he’s that goddamn easy to fool only makes me love him more. I mostly appreciate the direction his character goes and the spin-off for making other people like him as well. (Also for giving him more scenes. That’s a big reason.) Anyone who can get stabbed in the chest and go “This stalker who raised plenty of red flags slightly quirky girl is a good person who only did this because I didn’t believe in her enough” as they bleed out is too preciously, stupidly naive for this world. Kind of literally.
Besides, even if his primary contribution to the story is a long string of fuck ups, I have a hard time resenting him for harassing Naofumi when his motivations for doing so are things like thinking Naofumi is a rapist/kidnapper or that slavery is bad. Particularly when Naofumi not only admits that had Myne run to him that first night claiming she was assaulted by Motoyasu, he’d have probably taken her side, but when he sees Motoyasu trying to comfort a crying girl and immediately tosses out the accusation that she’s crying because Motoyasu raped her. Even him ignoring the “why would I have a brainwashing shield” argument while Naofumi is on the run for the kidnapper framing thing feels moot in light of the fact that Itsuki gets a brainwashing bow, and that multiple heroes are shown various times to use illusion weapons to an effect similar to brainwashing.
All that aside, he’s a generally sociable, upbeat, and friendly person, the kind of loyalty he shows his friends/allies is admirable save for the fact that he’s such a terrible judge of character, he comes across as very earnest, I like characters who totally wear their heart on their sleeves like he does, and even if he’s not the best at noticing when he’s annoying people, he wants everyone to be happy thinks that it’s not a fun time if not everyone is having fun. Those are some pretty likable traits in a person. He might be a long string of fuck-up who clearly isn’t playing with a full deck and probably never was, but at least his heart’s in the right place.
Dude even got his stalker-related PTSD triggered by Rishia and still hung around to try and comfort her until someone else showed up who could take over.
(Also I don’t know for sure about the WN, but just as a point of technicality, in the LN he believes everything Bitch says until she does start telling the other heroes that he raped her, which is well before the queen’s death.)
BTW Proto, what made you interested in Elsword? I wanna bet its the boobs but like I'd at least give you a little more credit than that.
Please, Rena never did it for me. But I played Elsword back when it was three characters, and binged it when listening to old anime podcasts. Really wanted to be a Rune Slayer. Tried Raven, never got far. Deadly Chaser, woo. *sweats* And I’ve kept tabs on what characters came out and what classes they got.
So what resparked interest? I want to say lack of an MMO. I’ve been on a deep Final Fantasy XIV kick, and I needed a break to play over games. A replay of Automata, retry of Horizon Zero Dawn, Cuphead, etc.
But I want to get back in the grind?? And I remembered I was into Elsword?? And Star Wars The Old Repubic??! And like, “there’s fan fiction material here. Huge.” So here I am. I wanna play Lord Knight and have a giant sword. Or try Rune Slayer again.
