Welcome
This is long overdue and yet, if I had started this any earlier, I feel as though it would have been premature. We “come out” when we’re ready and as of late, I’ve had an undeniable urge to come out on a bigger scale and do something (more). Writing has always been cathartic to me and especially in the mental health space, writing/sharing, leads to opening conversations and talking about things we would otherwise keep unsaid, so here I am; sharing me. In all my forms; the lawyer, the ‘athlete,’ the feminist, the mental health advocate, the 'brown girl,’ to name just a few..
This blog, like most blogs, is a stream of consciousness. A compilation of stories, old and new, of hurdles, successes, obstacles and triumphs. A journey to pass the bar* of life.
This blog is linked to several identities:-
Wordpress: The Philotherapist is a blog I started in 2011. I blogged my way through philosophy, pre-law preparations and law school. Among those posts you’ll find blogs from my shadow self/quarter-life-crisis.
Instagram: pass.the.bar is my instagram handle for those interested in following (my) training, nutrition, sports-specific ‘bars.’
Medium: I am becoming a regular contributor to LawTalk, a blog published by the Queensland Law Society. Queensland Law Society advocates for good law, support good lawyers and always act in the public good. Law Talk is QLS’s publication where we share advice and thought pieces about working in the profession. My writer page is here.
Twitter: pass__the__bar is my twitter handle which will host links from all of the above. Talk about exposure! *hides face*
*Pass the bar is a term used in law noting the passing of the bar exam in law. For me, this term has expanded beyond the legal realm into my day-to-day life. We set bars for ourselves - as do others.
