❤️ Today is the two year anniversary of losing my friend Jeanne Lavender, who I was privileged to know and work with for over a decade. Jeanne was the funniest, most authentic person I have ever met, the original black magic woman, and she taught me a lot about life. Like all of the elder wisewomen, Jeanne was the keeper of the secrets and memories of our shop, and she told me amazing and hilarious stories about Greenwich Village in the 60s, Boulder in the 70s, and beyond. I feel so very fortunate to have had the time and memories with her that I did. Looking Back

Life was warm with gentle ease, Not grand nor broken, just simple peace. No cellphones, no TikTok craze— Just laughter, games, and carefree days.

I see myself out in the sun, Playing with friends, on the run, Returning home muddy, drenched in sweat, A childhood joy I’ll never forget.

With my sisters, cartoons on screen, Waiting for mom in the dimming scene, Ignoring the hunger, lost in the show, Then mom walks in with dinner to stow.

It wasn’t fancy, but it was enough, We shared our meals, both simple and rough. Life back then was small and kind, But growing up, we’ve left that behind.

Now we're older, faces lined, With tougher roads and steeper climbs, Yet grateful still for what we’ve learned— From simple times to strength hard-earned.

Through all the years, the joy holds true: We are here, and we made it through.
