This week in Sugar Class my students have to copy the techniques for a pastillage sculpture. This is their example (mine):
And their guidelines:
(1) backdrop piece at least 12” tall and 4.5” wide at the base, with a curvature somewhere along the side no deeper than 1” (for stability).
(1) fish
(3) pieces of seaweed, made from thin triangles between 9” and 10” long, curled in different shapes.
(1) circular cut piece for the base.
(2) or more bubble cutouts on the backdrop piece.
(3) small rocks of differing shapes
Decorative sugar-sand (accompanied by recipe)
At least (2) different airbrush techniques.
Blending of colors.
Must stick to tropical ocean theme.
Does not have to have straight edges anywhere save the bottom, but edges must be sanded.
They have until tomorrow night to complete their pieces, I’m excited to see how everyone’s turn out!
[One student really wants to make a blob fish and I told them as long as it has the distinct face they can go for it, so that’s exciting]
