Actors James Coburn and Kris Kristofferson during the filming of one of the last scenes of the 1973 movie Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (the death of Billy the Kid, killed by his longtime friend Pat Garrett).
Rest in Peace Kris Kristofferson (1936-2024).
As a freshly-minted stan I find the confrontation in Young Guns II deeply amusing because
1) It is pretty much the opposite of what witness accounts describe happening, what with Pat Garrett revealing his position with a Dramatic Match Strike and carrying on a conversation of several minutes with Billy, with absolutely nobody else inside the room or just outside it to overhear said conversation.
2) Garrett explains exactly why faking both Billy's death and his own responsibility for said death and thereby going on to perpetrate a fraud on the rich and powerful of New Mexico would be a stupid idea and an incredible risk to his own neck, and then does it anyway.
