wow i'm simply disappointed with the way papergames had handled things.
honestly the entire situation is disappointing. the decisions made by papergames are extremely unprofessional and, in my opinion, even fraudulent.
the entirety of global fan spaces are deeply disturbed and crushed with the news. a lot of people have already poured in time, emotions and money in preparation of valko only for ppg to pull the plug and leave everyone hanging.
i am also truly concerned with the involved staff, devs, artists, writers, production, and talents such as mo-cap artists, voice actors and even cosplayers. they deserve compensation, and most importantly, the chance to have their years of work be put out to the public instead of having it binned.
i'm extremely livid over the people who perpetuated this. the cn players who said racist and offensive remarks, the ones who followed and harassed papergames employees and the ones who involved authorities with the goal of censorship.
but then again, i'm well aware of the situation with the authorities getting involved on the cn side of things too, causing distress to women over there who genuinely love this game. the chinese gov is extremely strict over games and content, especially those for women. which is why i still believe we should reserve some grace to cn girlies who are not part of the group that are harassing and hurting others.
i believe i had seen some of them even cooperating with international fans, so let's do our best to work together to get an answer out of papergames and let's not lump the normal players with the bad cookies.
instead let's pour our energy in making sure that papergames and the harassing groups who involved the cn government, threatened ppg employees and left hurtful racist remarks online are held accountable. papergames need to clarify their plans. we had no roadmap or even anything to clarify what they're going to do with the supposedly planned content after valko's removal. this is basically fraud, they're not keeping up with what they marketed and they need to say something.
valko's erasure will change a lot of things, and not for good. each li release offers new information regarding the lore (in valko's case, i am assuming it's mc's aether core, considering he's a protocore scientist) the fact that he's gone, a huge chunk of lore will be going with him and instead will be replaced by a rushed, unpolished retconning of the original plan. he also serves as rafayel's narrative foil, his erasure leaves our beloved mermaid with no counterpart.
and gameplay wise, the yellow stellactrum will stay unfilled. there will be an awkward number of li vs. stellactrum. we will also not get new orbits, game modes and other updates that comes with the new li.
we need valko back, because if not, it sets a precedent that works of art/media can easily be changed or trashed with enough violence and power. as a writer and someone interested in working with video games, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. in this age, the last thing we need is wasting the hardwork of people.
i know a lot people might just see this as a mere "gaming issue" and that it's "not that deep" but the underlying dangers of censorship and control over what content women consume just looms beside it.
to the people who are reading this, it is totally understandable to quit and not interact anymore. but for those who are still within the fandom spaces, make your noise by not buying from papergames, rating their games on all platforms and getting loud with the petitions.

[programmer.txt] hi everyone! to those who have followed this account, you might remember a playlist style "event" that i had in here called seraph's mixtape.
unfortunately, i have lost all motivation to continue the wips that are under it and therefore will be discontinuing it. it doesn't feel fun writing it anymore which just goes against the purpose of this account 😓
however, there are some new fics and events that i wanna focus on and i'll update here once i sort it out so stay tuned~
