"Embers & Dust" by Patrick Biesemans
EMBERS AND DUST
A clever premise gives us the “what if” scenario that aliens actually made it down to Earth on that fateful night Orson Welles produced “The War of the Worlds”. Beautiful cinematography, impressive production value, and a powerful tone, really makes this film standout. Being a fan of Welles’ infamous radio production myself, filmmaker Patrick Biesemans creates a strong calling card, showing off his skill with the camera, while doing service to the inspiration behind the story. Bravo!

Embers & Dust by Patrick Biesemans
There are plenty of filmmakers exploring the blurred line between fiction and reality, but far fewer explore a much more interesting phenomenon: fiction that creates reality. The most iconic example being Orson Welles’ 1938 radio broadcast, “War of the Worlds,” which became instantly legendary for inspiring mass panic in listeners who didn’t realize the broadcast ⎯ a live reporting of a Martian invasion ⎯ was fake. (A disclaimer was made only twice during the hour-long radio play.)
Embers & Dust is a poetic examination of the infamous night of the Welles broadcast ⎯a story about fear, family, imagination, and the power of media over our minds.

In just that moment something is awakened inside of him, but even with a sense of purpose, sadness follows.
"Nirvana" is a melancholy postcard from memories long past.
