Crochet Pattern - tips?
So one of the things that I want to start to do more is write up my patterns for the items I have created.
I have started to make a template to try and make them all look and feel but I want your input.
What are things that you love or hate in patterns? Are there things you wish they would include or appreciate when they do, are there things you wish people would leave out?
Also I am not sure what social media I should link to. A lot of patterns will state that you can sell finished items or ask for you to give credit by tagging them. Currently besides tumblr I don’t have anything under the Reckless Stitches name. Anyone have any insights into which platforms are most popular or recommendations on doing this?
Griding is done, although I don't care for the center area of the top, now I have to write out the pattern

Ignorant Pattern Making
I’ve never Tailored before. I’ve sewn before, a total of 1 corn-hole bean bag. My knowledge of tailoring begins and ends with an unintentional bit of asmr consisting of the presentation of a bespoke suit. I’ve watched that more than once by now. So before I try to cut a pattern from cloth I’ll take the advice of the lumberjack and start sharpening. I’ve made some “pattern paper” out of six pages from a note book I had left over. I used an image editing software to plan the design of a pattern. I want to avoid as many unnecessary seams as I can so I tried going for a single pattern for a single piece in this case a thigh pad. I take hap-hazard measurements of my leg, I don’t know how it’s actually done but I do my best. I use a ruler and measuring tape to hand draw the pattern I designed on to the paper. I cut the pattern out of the paper and discover three things. The pattern is too thin around the thigh and the tongue that extends over the shin and under the shinguard is askew. Thirdly the top of the thigh piece does not reach high enough. I don’t know how to adjust the pattern to get it right. Red lines indicate the quarter marks. Theoretically the lines from left to right would be the center front, the opposite of the seam, and the center back. The top black line would be where my thigh meets my groin. I think there is a word for that but I don’t know it.
Don’t know how accurate the measurements actually are, I don’t have a mirror. I don’t know how these things are traditionally measured. Gonna be redoing this until I decide either that the process is going nowhere, or that I have a pattern that’s good enough.
Stages of the pattern…
